We had been looking forward to coming to Hotel Budweis and reliving our honeymoon. we had, 11 months in advance, asked the hotel if we could have the same room as we had on our honeymoon, with the beautiful view and beautiful large windows where you could sit on the windowsill and look out at the river and the church. They confirmed this in June 2023 and wrote to us that they have booked that room for us. So we were somewhat disappointed when we get to the hotel after a 12 hour drive and find out they have given us another room. The receptionist tells us that they have given us a better room, but only after we point out that we have booked a different room than the one we have been given. But that was not what we experienced, the room was fine. but we could not see the view unless we stood in the smaller windows. The room we had booked has a bathtub, the room we got was without a bathtub. and we didn't have cold water in the tap. although we mentioned it several times, it was not done during our stay. We wrote an email to the hotel that we were sorry we hadn't got the booked room, but their reply was a standard reply that we had got a room in the same style and cathegory as the desired room, just on a different floor . We do not feel that our disappointment with our experience was heard. We are aware that the hotel has an operation that must be integrated into a higher unit. Read moreIt is the fifth hotel during our two-weeks summer holidays this year. And the worst one. Personal is very unfriendly, no one ever smiled or helped. The room is not clean. If I move table, then there is the very hell carpet under it, and dark-grey around (see photo). I booked the standard room with the standard price, expecting the standard view. But the view from my window has the dirty roof with electrical wires swimming in the water (see photo). There are some insects on the wall in the room(see photo). The glass in the bathroom has the big distance to the bath, and if the water from shower toughches to the glass, then it lands to the floor. The room looks poor: there is no any picture on the walls (see photo). I have asked for another room, but didn't get it. The answer was:"another rooms are for people with booking". It means that my booking has less value than the booking of other people? Bus I paid the same. In the description of booking it is written that hotel has own free parking. But it is too small and always full, during the whole day. We have to use the hotel garage for extra charge. The garage has no connection to hotel, and in order to open the entrance door for our car. the employee from reception has to go out of hotel and come to garage. I feel very uncomfortable. Read moreThis is the second time I stayed here. The first time was great, this was not a stay that mirrored the first. The room was not that clean, I could see dust on the curtains. The maid staff left cleaning products in my room and the vacuum cleaner was in the hall for 2 days. The breakfast service is just okay and I did not find staff friendly, but this might be due to a language barrier as I am English speaking. The most disappointing occurrence was theft of a cashmere sweater. It was in my room waiting to be packed , when I left for dinner. When I was gathering my things the next morning I realized it was missing. This was relayed to the front desk and I have heard nothing since. I was unable to connect to the WiFi in my room for the entire stay, the signal was too weak. My daughter lives in Ceske Budejovice , and it is a lovely town. I felt that the hotel might be struggling based on what I saw and that an item was stolen with no apologies...
