We are a couple who just got back from Cesky Krumlov. We stayed there 2 nights. The pension is 10 minutes walking ( not running :) to the centre. Looking the map you could say you pass more than 10 minutes but you have to consider the scale as well. The owner of the pension is very kind, asking us all the time what else could have done for us or to offer to make our accommodation as pleasant as possible. Breakfast was included in price, more than enough and good quality - what most of us I suppose, are eating at home usually. The room was clean, view on the back court yard, well lighted and equipped with all necessary ( not flat screen but if you plan to leave your home and to pass the day in another home and another room or well if the weather is bad and you will have to stay in the room than you have to know there is no flat screen ). Back courtyard is well maintained with necessary utilities. The owner also offered a coloured map photocopy of town so you can save 80-100 czk like if you would buy from sellers. She also offered indications on how to find the chapel on the hill which is 15 minutes walking from the pension. It is close but consider you are climbing. The chapel is closed not in such good condition but it worth to go for the view over the town and for nature on the top of the hill, surrounded only by small field flowers, trees and open and shady spaces.||||Something interesting, people who is staying to the pension, leaves a traditional bill, bank note from the country they are, something symbolic of course, like a souvenir for the others who will come after them. All bills are exposed in the kitchen and we saw bills from around 12 countries. ||||One minor aspect the owner doesn't speak english but is minor as when you have willing to help there is always a solution and is morea appreciated than a foreign language. We managed using some to none german words ( the lady speaks german fluently ), some czech words and some english words that she knows. But don't worry she is the type of person who will always find a solution to communicate. ||||I almost forgot, she waited for us at the train station at almost midnight so again and again, very nice, very polite person, not intrusive respecting your privacy and ready to offer you all necessary for...
Read moreYou really get a good value for money at pension Gerta, I read all the reviews saying how wonderful the owner is and we were not disappointed. This is not a five star hotel of course, but a simple B&B for a budget stay but the rooms are big and comfortable, and there were new mattresses on the beds so we got a good night’s sleep. We were staying during low season so there was no one else apart from us, we were shown our room after the arrival but then she actually showed us all the other rooms just in case we like some of them better! There was even a kitchenette in the room, which can come in handy for longer stays when you don’t want to eat out all the time. We picked at what time we wanted to have breakfast and everything was ready, with Gerta offering us to cook whatever we wanted on top what was already on the table. As we were in a hurry we did not eat everything, she offered us a packed lunch and gave us some donuts “to go” ||The pension is in a good place too, it is not directly in the centre but it is approximately 10 minutes’ walk away, and offers...
Read moreGerta is a welcoming, friendly hostess. who makes sure her guests have everything they need. Despite her limited English (and our very limited Czech!) we were able to communicate no worries. Our double room with ensuite was basic but it was clean and comfortable and just a 10min walk from the old town which was fantastic. We also had a beautiful view over the old town (especially lovely at night). It was cold while we were visiting so the radiators were on and the room was toasty warm. There is no aircon. Car parking was provided for us right outside the apartment and the area is perfectly safe. Breakfast was amazing! We were so full with cereal, donuts, bread, hams, cucumber, radishes, tomatoes, yoghurt. It just kept coming so we had to stop her at the eggs LOL! You certainly get your value for money here and I highly recommend anyone visiting Cesky...
