Topics covered and artifacts displayed here are just what one would expect. They follow the beginnings and the development of the city up until present. I commend them that the information presented is in great detail. However it doesn't really have the vibes of a modern museum. I felt a kind of information overload as a lot of documents clippings letters are just presented as they are in glass cases and therefore very indigestible. The big model of the city is quite amazing but then again there are no audio visual effects or at least some lights to guide your eye to wander over it. In short my interest wasn't piqued and I would just have a quick walk through. That may be why I was the only...
Společně s kolejí a divadlem tvořila dominantní komplex budov jezuitského řádu, který do Českého Krumlova povolal Vilém z Rožmberka v roce 1582.
The building of today's regional museum was built in the 17th century as a Jesuit seminary. The oldest early Baroque object in the city was built on the site of six older burgher houses in the years 1650-1652. Together with the dormitory and the theater, it formed the dominant complex of the Jesuit order, which was invited to Český Krumlov by Vilém of Rožmberk in 1582. In 1773 the activities of the Jesuit order were terminated and four years later the seminary was canceled. After the WWII, in 1946 the former seminar was acquired by the local museum and archive. The first museum exposition was opened to the public in 1952. The current appearance of the building is the result of a complete reconstruction from 1970-1980. Today, in addition to historical collections or archaeological finds, you can see a ceramic model of the historic city center, or the facilities of a Baroque Jesuit...
