Very old brewery in Prague that uses traditional method of brewing their delicious dark beer. The host invited us into the basement and explained to our group the method of brewing their beer and the long history from the 1400s. While he talked there was a video shown on the wall to assist his presentation. During this time we sat at the table and each of us had a large glass of beer to sample. Lucky for me my travel companion does not drink beer, so extra for me!
After the presentation we toured the brewery rooms. They were so interesting! Beautiful brass fixtures and containers. Old rafters with flowers painted on them. Very pretty! Then it was off to have dinner.
Dinner was held in a beautiful old room that looked like a chapel with beautiful arched widows. The food was great and the atmosphere was too. The serving staff were excellent and made us feel happy.
There is a gift shop with lots of lovely souvenirs and beer available to purchase as well. I bought the beer. I would highly recommend visiting this...
Read moreIn mod cert una dintre cele mai bune berarii din Praga, monument istoric (cladirea a fost terminata la 1499 capatand forma actuala in sec. XVIII), un adevarat muzeu al berii si imagine reala a modului in care cehii stiu sa petreaca, restaurantul U Fleku este indragit si frecventat mai ales de catre localnici (intr-o zi de joi, dupa-amiaza, terasa era plina de praghezi) dar si de catre turisti. Localul are o curte centrala deschisa vara unde clientii se aseaza la mese lungi, suficient de mari car sa ofere o anumita intimitate. Chelnerii se misca permanent intre mese purtand tavi cu doua tipuri de alcool (din care - intrebat fiind daca doresti - poti accepta sa iti fie oferit sau refuza) sau bere (pe care, evident, toti o comanda). Atmosfera este foarte vesela, zgomotoasa (dupa o anumita limita chiar euforica, fara a se exagera insa), buna dispozitie fiind sustinuta de catre un lautar (ex. un acordeonist) pe care uneori ajungi sa nu il mai auzi bine datorita larmei si rasetelor. Meniul este tipic ceh (se spune), desi mancarea pare mai repede germana. Excelent carnatul cu curry si cel picant dat si ciolanul de porc. Adevarata vedeta a localului este insa berea neagra, productie proprie - un amestec absolut delicios si echilibrat de caramel, dulce si amar avand un guler (spuma) cremos si rezistent - asta, evident, daca nu se sta cu halba plina prea mult timp, chestiune putin probabila insa... Si berea blonda este interesanta, fara sa fie insa cu adevarat remarcabila... Chelnerii sunt foarte amabili, atenti mereu sa fie bere pe masa. In stilul tipic german, chelnerul va inscrie pe o hartie (lasata langa client) cate beri sau tarie si ce mancare a consumat, acesta din urma platind la sfarsit la iesire. U Fleku merita, in egala masura, o vizita a interioarelor si (am inteles ca este posibil acest lucru) a zonei unde se produce berea - sali cu aspect medieval si decoratii unice, remarcabile.
