Mademoiselle Joséphine — Local services in Paris

Very disappointed with the service in the shop today. I had looked forward to finding the perfect vintage designer piece from Mademoiselle Joséphine for quite some time, and after traveling all the way from Toronto, to be greeted by a less than welcoming sales associate just put me right off. Upon entry to the shop, with my young family, the sales associate looked us up and down and just smirked. In that moment I knew that even if I found the perfect piece, I wouldn't be buying here. Instead, I found Sissy's Corner in Le Marais, where we were all welcomed in, and I found just what I was looking for. I highly recommend you go there instead. Mademoiselle Joséphine - your staff judged a book by its cover, and it was a mistake. I'll never come back and I'll never recommend your shop now. The simple actions of your staff made all the difference. You can do so much better.

Added after the shop’s response: I can’t reply to the shop’s response, so I’ll add to my review instead. We certainly were not greeted with a smile. I made no mistake in my interpretation of the look we received upon entry. The associate didn’t say a word until I said ‘bonjour’ upon entry. And she barely mustered a ‘bonjour’ in return. She made no indication whatsoever that she was there to help me in any way. Very disappointing.

It was clear I was looking for something specific. My husband even said ‘are you not finding what you’re looking for?’ And when I said no, most sales associates would jump in to say ‘how can I help?’ That never happened.

The response feels defensive, and completely gaslights my experience, furthering my overall negative view. Seeing a number of similar reviews/experiences, I’m clearly not...

Gabriella is an absolute delight. She and her colleague have the patience of saints and we more than happy to guide us with our purchases over two years now. They answered endless questions with their expertise, welcomed us for multiple visits each time. We purchased a Chanel bag last year and finally purchased a Kelly from a very special year this time.
