I had a whole tale written out about the issues we had at this property and why won't be staying again. But unfortunately Google has a word limit apparently. I'm uploading it as screenshots instead. Read those for the full story. TL;DR - DON'T STAY HERE! Avoid this hotel if you don't want your things either stolen or thrown away. I had my Wedding Band and my backup ring taken from me while here. They also fraudulently charged us 1,200 extra dollars! It was eventually refunded (read updates for more information) UPDATES: 1) No rings were found or returned. The front desk apologized again when we checked out but nothing else was done. 2) After we checked out we were informed we had to pay an additional city tax. Not a problem, we were told this when we checked in we had just forgotten about it. Well as we were landing from our international flight, I noticed a $1200+ charge on our credit card. When I called I was informed this was an accident on their part and it would be refunded. They said this without even asking who was calling or our room number. This seems like another red flag to my wife and I. After asking how they could possibly refund us without knowing who it was going to, the front desk took our name and room number. They apologized saying they must have accidentally clicked twice when charging our city tax... I'm not sure how that math works out when the city tax was approximately $75. We were told to wait up to 4 days before I'd see the refund. I'll update this review further if the refund shows up or if we end up needing to file a charge back. 3) After two weeks filled with multiple phone calls and emails we finally got the fraudulent charge refunded. We're glad that it is finally over and that this is behind us. I really can't stress you reading this TO NOT STAY HERE. It shouldn't have taken us this much effort to get this charge refunded.

The Hotel Verneuil in Paris has certainly earned its stars due to its exceptional staff. Every team member is kind, professional, and always welcoming, making the hospitality here truly enjoyable. However, unfortunately, my overall stay cannot receive a higher rating. The rooms are incredibly small to the point where there is not enough space even to comfortably open your luggage. The price, considering the room size, is notably high. I paid €1600 for four nights, and I expected a bit more space and comfort. Another aspect that impacted my experience was the elevator. It was only accessible from the first floor, likely due to the building's origins, which seemed to be an old apartment complex. The hotel lobby was pleasant, but unfortunately, during the evening, it was impossible to have a conversation or relax due to a small room located right next to the sofas. This limited the use of a space that could have been very cozy. I reiterate that the staff at the Hotel Verneuil is excellent and does their best to ensure a pleasant stay. However, the lack of space in the rooms and some infrastructure issues reduce the overall rating. If you need space and comfort, you may want to consider alternatives to this hotel.

I stayed here for three nights. The location is excellent, tucked among antique stores in a quiet yet central part of the city. Unfortunately, the room I was given was much smaller than expected. It was a basement-style space behind the hotel lounge that felt more like a service entry or storage room than a guest room. While it had the basics I needed, it was uncomfortably tiny and directly next to the alley/courtyard where staff would take breaks or discard trash, making it noisy at times. Service was also disappointing. The air conditioning wasn’t functioning properly, and when I asked for help, the first front desk attendant simply shrugged and said, “well, it’s a pity.” Thankfully, after the shift changed, another staff member was more helpful and resolved the issue. Overall, I found the staff generally unfriendly, which unfortunately matched the underwhelming room experience.

Choosing this boutique hotel was probably the best decision I made for the trip to Paris I’d been wanting for decades. The location is perfect — close to the D’Orsay and the Louvre and good restaurants. Hotel Verneuil is tidy, clean and smartly decorated — understated but elegant and pretty. Our room was small by American standards, but everything was so well thought-out that it felt a bit larger than it was.

What I didn’t expect was how great the hotel would be in showing the rhythms of Parisian life. There is a beautiful apartment building across the street, which creates a great view for observing people greeting the day, and also turning down at night. There always seems to be some activity on Rue de Verneuil below, which can create some noise, but nothing too crazy. Similarly, there are great shops (I loved the nearby comics/bande dessinée shop) and cafes all around. Some are open very late — great for us night owls. It was fun to see the steady drip of people and news media paying homage to Serge Gainsbourg at the newly opened Gainsbourg museum.

The hotel has all the amenities I was looking for. I’m not sure whether they had an ice machine (edit: they do! :) ), but they had fridges with ice-cold drinks and even and an unmanned “honest bar” downstairs with a fridge with more cold drinks, wine and spirits. The breakfast buffet was very good and reasonably priced, in a beautiful cave-like room with someone manning the coffee station to make espressos, lattes, etc. I was a little worried they only had dairy milk, but the staff found some “lait de soja” for me! The staff was very professional and nice, and sent several helpful emails beforehand.

We will absolutely stay here should we, with any luck, find ourselves in...

Hotel Verneuil is our 'home away from home', in Paris! We would prefer to keep it a secret. However, we know it is important that others know what a lovely place it is so that it stays in business and we can keep going back.

We have been staying at the Hotel Verneuil for more than 20 years. And we keep returning for its central location, competent management and especially for its staff. Nazira, Isabelle, Paul and Kazi are like a happy family. You feel their positive energy as soon as you arrive. They do everything and anything in their power to ensure that guests have a magical stay. But they go beyond too. During the pandemic, we got messages from them, asking if we were well. Which business has such dedicated, caring and lovely people working for them? In fact, we suspect that they are the real owners of the hotel :-)!

The hotel is located in a quiet street in our favourite area of Paris, close to amazing museums (Orsay, Louvre, etc) and great shops (especially antique and design shops). It is Paris, so space is limited. Rooms and bathrooms are on the small size but still comfortable.

If you are planning a trip to Paris, it will be hard to find a more charming place to stay. From the nice rooms to their super dedicated and capable staff, you will feel at home while being able to enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The only thing we would change about the hotel is to offer softer pillows and nicer...
