Fantastic little hotel located in the latin Quarter with so many amazing places to visit within walking distance.
Yes the room are small and the hotel is old but the charm is unbelievable. If you want a modern style hotel then the hotel Esmeralda is not for you.
If you are looking for a room in a hotel that gives you a taste of true French hospitality and service, this is the place.
From the moment we entered the staff were amazing. We couldn't have felt more welcome. From tips on where to dine and where to avoid the service was impeccable.
We asked for advice on where to dine with a child and the lady in reception looked at my 12 year old daughter and said, she is not a child, this made my daughters day. It became a little joke we would have with her the whole trio that she was now a grown up young lady, we she certainly is.
If you are staying I would highly recommend La Crème de Paris Notre-Dame, for food. Located just around the corner it was one of the best meals I had for brunch, crepe with Aubergine, Mushroom, confit tomatoes and Mozzarella, absolutely outstanding.
Paris was an amazing place to visit but it wouldn't have been the same without a visit to hotel Esmeralda.
We stayed in room 8 and there's a little book with notes from guest thay you should...
Read moreFavourite hotel in Paris. Staff very Helpful and Friendly. Rooms very Quirky and Bohemian in a very 1920's way if you like that kind of thing. It only seems expensive. Because of the location* and when you counter that in it becomes a very good priced hotel. *If you book a front room you overlook Notre Damme. Our rooms were always clean. Lower rooms can be a bit noisy up and until late because of street people going to and from bars and restaurants but your in Paris.. there's only one reason to be in a hotel room that early!!!. Can be noisy also lower down at the back especially when Shakespeare and Co have the "hi brow" Sorbonne "Stundenti" in... playing the back room piano.. But we still love it (occasionally someone plays really well!!! Esmeralda makes us feel like we have travelled back in time to the non commercial real Paris that was. Highly recommend for a bohemian...
Read moreIf you're looking for a medieval-style experience, Esmeralda certainly delivers with its historic charm, creaky floors, and vintage decor — but be prepared for more than just old-world ambiance.
Unfortunately, our stay was ruined by a bed bug infestation. We discovered bites overnight and had to do emergency laundry early in the morning. The hotel did not offer any proactive solution, and we had no choice but to move to a different hotel, pleading for an early check-in just to recover from the ordeal.
We also had to vacate Esmeralda at 4 a.m., exhausted and frustrated — not the Parisian memory we hoped for.
Advice to fellow travelers:
Inspect the bed and linens immediately upon arrival.
Be ready to pivot — especially if you're staying more than one night.
Sadly, the romantic location near Notre-Dame couldn’t make up for the disruption. Not recommended until significant pest control and guest service improvements are made.
P.s. No complaints with the staff or the concept/ location...
