Extremely rude staff, definitely NOT for families with young children. Firstly my 3 year old child was told off when we were trying to calm her down without even giving us a few minutes. Yes, indeed, telling off a 3 year old in front of their parents! First time ever, in any restaurant in the world. Coffee & mains were served together with starters on an extremely small table and waitress just demanded "I need room!" Twice, while we were trying to scramble to remove children items and rearrange the utensils and all as we were expecting just the starters first. No "Please", no "Excuse me"? No one came to ask how the food was and if everything was okay, only came to ask if we are done with the food. When we tried to provide feedback to the team, manager got all defensive. To be fair to the good reviews, we visited this place previously many years ago and had a good experience but unfortunately this second one left us sorely disappointed. Definitely no service recovery.
Oh yes the below reply proves my point, manager/owner gave an convoluted excuse to be rude to us because of our children in the restaurant. Been to several French establishments during my stay and didn't encounter any such problem. Yes I also have to set the record straight, there was only some crying for a few minutes upon arrival but that did not continue into our meal. And yes again he doesn't understand that the starter should be served as a starter and not mains first, starters second and coffee ending all together on the table, clogging up the table and then blaming us for having some children's things on the table, which was in fact to help them calm down. For this type of service and average food at best, you can make your own conclusion, its best to head elsewhere. P.S. the coffee was...
Read moreWe were looking for a quick lunch prior to leaving for the airport (sob!) and having spent most of the morning at the Jardin du Luxembourg, it made sense to head across the street to the hub of eateries that line that side of the park. How fortunate to have sat down at Le Petit Medicis! We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious lunch (my big salad would have thrilled Elaine!) and the gorgeous sunshine of that day. Our daughter loved her cheese plate (thankfully she filled up fast enough that there was some left for us to sample!). I am not ashamed to admit that one of the highlights for me was the tea ordered. It came in a beautiful big pot that was designed to fit IN THE TEA CUP so it looked like it was all one thing. The Europeans know how to present tea for real enjoyment! The service was very prompt (well as prompt as Paris is) and the maitre'd was very patient as I practiced my French with him (at least I remembered to vous and not tu him!). Overall really loved this place - a nice farewell from Paris for this trip....
Read moreAlmost a year late in my review, but here it is: We had a delicious lunch (about 1pm) and it is very conveniently located opposite Jardin du Luxembourg. The duck confit was excellent and we're still fond of the hor d'oeuvres served.
Just a minor feedback on the service, not sure if it's a cultural thing. We were 4 pax, already had brunch earlier, so we ordered 2 hor d'oeuvres, 3 mains, and a dessert to share and taste different dishes. We requested for all dishes to be serve at once because we only had 1 hour to dine before heading off to the Louvre at our timed entry. But despite our request, the server still waited for us to finish our hor d'oeuvres and the mains took a long time to arrive, so we had to rush which was not ideal. We almost had to cancel desserts as well. We were also frowned upon for sharing food. I explained that we were not that hungry, but again, there was a slight passive aggression every time when we were ordering...not sure if it's a cultural difference or a...
