ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS RESTAURANT TOURIST SCAM WARNING IN PARIS

Restaurant Name : Bailli Address: 7 Avenue de Suffren, 75007 Paris

I had a terrible experience here and feel it’s my duty to warn other tourists so they don’t get scammed like I did.

I visited this restaurant thinking it was just a normal café. There were no prices displayed for what we ordered – mostly coffee, desserts, and soft drinks. The service and quality were average at best.

When the bill arrived, I was shocked to see a total of €249 for just a few drinks and desserts. Here are some examples from the receipt: • Cappuccino: €12 • Vanilla cappuccino: €16 • Milkshake: €18 • Bottled water: €8 • Tiramisu: €18

This is daylight robbery, even compared to high end spots in London or Paris. I refused to pay, saying that the prices were never shown or explained, and that this was deceptive. The staff became aggressive and intimidating, demanding I pay.

They called over two police officers who happened to be passing by. I calmly explained what happened, but the police immediately sided with the restaurant. They were rude, unprofessional, and refused to give me their names or badge numbers, which is against the law in France. Police are required to provide their shoulder number or identification when requested. This abuse of power will be formally reported, and I urge anyone else who witnesses this to report it as well.

The officers threatened to arrest me, but I stood my ground and said I would rather be arrested than pay for this scam. In the end, my friend gave in and paid to avoid further stress, even though I strongly objected.

After this incident, I spoke with other tourists (from Australia) who were just leaving the restaurant. They told me they were scammed too this is clearly a deliberate and repeated trap targeting tourists.

To protect others, I have taken photos, video footage, and have even gone further: ➡️ I have custom made a van with a warning sign about this restaurant. ➡️ I will pay someone to legally drive this van around Paris to warn innocent tourists.

Please, I kindly ask you to avoid this place at all costs. It is a tourist scam trap using deceptive pricing, intimidation, and police involvement to pressure people into paying extortionate amounts.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Unfortunately, your reply only reinforces the concerns I raised. No Prices Displayed Clearly On my visit, there were no menus or prices presented to us at the table. If they had been, we would have immediately walked away. Hiding or not offering a menu is deceptive, especially in such a tourist-heavy location. Police Involvement The fact that you called over officers for a simple dispute about a bill says everything. Tourists should never feel intimidated into paying excessive charges. The police refusing to give identification is another serious concern that I am pursuing through the proper channels. Other Tourists Report the Same Experience Immediately after leaving, I spoke to other customers who told me they were also charged shockingly inflated prices without clear menus. This shows it’s not an isolated incident but a recurring pattern. Professionalism Instead of addressing the serious allegations, your reply resorts to sarcasm and mockery (“Netflix docu drama,” “cappuccino adventurers,” etc.). A professional business would take customer complaints seriously not belittle them.

This is not about paying for “Paris rent.” It’s about transparency and honesty. Tourists deserve to know what they are paying before they order. Until that happens, I will continue warning others so they don’t experience the...

Nice atmosphere, Eiffel tower theme with flowers. Turn offs for me, the still water tasted more like tap water was refilled in the bottle, the dustbins from the kitchen are emptied in the middle of the restaurant, luckily we had just finished eating as the stench was quite awful and there wasn't any effort to put any room spray.

My daughter didn't enjoy the Croque Monsieur, it wasn't pain de mie, but as very dry tasteless brown bread which isn't the usual way she would have it. I also noticed this wasn't mentioned on the menu nor did the server mention that it would be brown bread.

Grilled shell on gambas was presented well but it was more pan fried gambas as opposed to grilled on a grill pan. It wasn't seasoned enough considering the shell was left on (black pepper and salt)

Usually I'm weary of restaurants so close to tourist attractions and as my daughter said the server was over friendly (maybe to cover up for the mistakes) and then I noticed I was charged for two portions of fries. I wasn't upset over that but sometimes it does come across as well they are tourists they...

We just wanted to use the bathroom with my friend so we went to the first restaurant that we found near the Eiffel tower. We already expected that we have to pay so I asked them how much we need to pay to use the bathroom?💸🙄 Staff told us we need to order something- so we ordered one glass of white wine (11€- it was the cheapest I could find from the menu😪) and my friend went to the bathroom.🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚽 When she came back, another waitress came to our table and told us that 1 glass of wine for two people is not acceptable🙅‍♂️⛔️ and we need to order another drink as well. We already wanted to leave because we had to get to the tower to see it sparkling. ✨🤩 So now we had to stay there and order another 11€ glass of wine. Mind you we already had some drinks and we were kind of drunk already. 🥴🍾We really didn’t want to order another glass of wine…. So at the end we paid 22€!!? just to use the bathroom and mind you there was not even a toilet seat. 😊☝️If someone is wondering did we make it to the Eiffel tower when it was sparkling then no- it was already over and our hearts were...

WARNING The place is incredibly located, and you will feel inclined to stop by for a rest and a drink…. Walk a bit more jump on the Metro and run as fast as you can from this TOURIST TRAP, they add an Euro per item after certain time supposedly at the discretion of the customer, but don’t give you the option to decline, they offer you water and before you know they have already opened a bottle on the table, and of course you gotta pay for it, I ordereD French fries since all I needed was a glass of wine, water and a quick bite, my friend joined me and ordered a sm salad and another drink, the fries were horrible, cold and triple cooked, but the worst was me asking about the extra charge and the big guy getting all defensive, well, I was obviously not about to engage, but seriously, skip this place, it could ruin Paris for you, look at the small print at the bottom of the menu
