Inconsistent management & discrimination to customers.

Last night I visited this bar with my friends to have some after dinner drinks. I was denied entry by the manager and female staff member as I was wearing sandals. I questioned this as my sandals were new and quite fancy looking and was told there’s a ‘no toe shoe policy’. We were quite frustrated by this but left. Tonight we visited again, I learnt my lesson and wore sneakers. As I was waiting in the short queue I watched numerous women let in wearing sandals. I questioned the female member of staff on the door (who was there the previous night) and asked why I was denied entry when tonight all females are being allowed in wearing flats some a lot less fancier than mine. She advised me this was a manager decision and that it varies based on the managers working that particular evening. I asked the manager why there is such a variation of rules within this venue and he couldn’t give me an answer. He tried to show me images of beach shoes that are not allowed however I wore nothing like this. The couple behind us were dressed much more formally (dress, heels, Ralph Lauren shirt and chino shorts ) but denied entry because the man had shorts on?? It is very clear there are NO set rules on dress code as other people in the venue were wearing T-shirts and jumpers.

This venue has no consistency in their policies and management and discriminates against customers. Upon reading other reviews I can see this has occurred to other customers with the business offering an ‘apology’ but clearly not doing anything about the issue. Don’t bother. Upsetting to say the least, they advertise a rooftop bar but your not allowed access to most of it unless you want to spend hundreds on bottles of champagne even if your staying at the hotel. Not a big champagne drinker and they only do “bottle service” at the sofa seats which have the view of the Eiffel Tower. They block the normal drinks section off with plants so you can’t see unless you go outside. Basically if you have hundreds / thousands to spend here they can attend to you, if you don’t then your unwelcome. We were told to leave because I’d purchased 4 glasses of wine instead of a bottle and they needed the table for “reservations” when you can only reserve a table online till 10pm. So basically because we’re not spending enough we have to leave even though there’s couples around us with empty glasses and empty sofas. A member of staff moved us into this area and then come over after we brought another 2 glasses of wine and said we can’t be in this section even though nobody come to take our order but handed us a menu with all the drinks on. I would of ordered a bottle but didnt want to give them any more of our money so went elsewhere. If you have money to burn go here if you don’t go elsewhere there are better options it’s 10 euros just for a soft drink. Rude rude rude. Come here for a birthday celebration too....

I don’t typically write reviews, but I’ve decided to do so because this place was blatantly discriminatory in a way that made my party feel bad about themselves and regret our choice of trying to come here last night. I came with 2 other young women, dressed nicely and after 20 minutes of waiting in the queue, the woman at the front told us to wait just 5 more minutes. Then, she asked us if we spoke French to which we replied honestly: “only a little bit” — she kept us waiting for another 15 minutes at the front of the line as many people left. Only then did she come back and proceed to let in the groups behind us who had arrived 10 minutes after us. The only explanation is discrimination against non-french / non-local people. I’d highly recommend avoiding coming here at all cost (especially if you’re not french), as the staff will be rude and then refuse to let you in, no matter how nice you look.
