Wish we had checked the reviews before taking a seat at this restaurant. We ordered chicken wings to start, Camembert, carbonara and Ham Hock. The chicken wings were okay but were slightly mushy. Spagetti bolognaise was served instead of carbonara. The ham hock was stone cold. I spoke to the manager to explain the issue. He offered a replacement ham hock but I said no thanks. To which he erupted in an outburst of anger, threatening myself and my friend, preventing us from leaving the restaurant and ‘calling’ the police. I told him I refused to pay for sub par food that was stone cold and not up to standards. I offered to pay the whole bill but not for the ham hock but he declined this fair offer. He then involved four or five other staff members from the neighbouring restaurant who also prevented us from leaving the establishment. As you can imagine, this was a very intimidating situation given the fact that we were both young females (in our early 20s) from another country. In the end, we managed to reason with him and paid for the whole meal aside from the ham hock (which still came to 50 euros!!!) Lesson learned- always read reviews first!! This incident unfortunately ended up ruining what could have been a lovely evening out. The manager has a terrible anger problem and doesn’t react well to even a small word of criticism. Proceed with caution, you’ve...
Read morethey scam tourists and charge them extra, i was arguing with the waiters for a solid 45 mins expressing how im not paying their scam price. the menu said one price but thr bill said another. after some arguing the manager finally came and he was just as bad as the indian waiter. he literally didnt care, didnt show any sign of regret or anything. after making a scene outside the restaurant, the waiter from next door came out and heard what i was saying and completely agreed with me. but the bald headed manager wasnt having any of it. the menu comes with an english translation of everything EXCEPT the bit where is says we have to pay extra after a certain time. how is anyone supposed to know that, the restaurant is literally targeted towards tourists. on top of that the food was dreadful and definitely not worth the orginal price on the menu. on top of that, they charge you extra to use their toilet which i found laughable. HIGHLY AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS, save yourself the headache with dealing with braindead waiters and managers who only want to squeeze all the money they can out of tourists who cant read or speak french. i have never left a restaurant feeling as scammed as i was and please HIGHLY AVOID THIS PLACE. i really cannot...
Read moreMy wife and I wanted to see the Eiffel Tower up close before we left Paris, and we wanted dinner at a French cafe that served crepes. We picked a cafe down the street and around a corner from the Tower. We picked Le Bistrot de la Tour. Our waiter was Conner, and he was very busy but managed to take very good care of us. After perusing the menu, I asked Conner about the steak frites, but he suggested the beef tournedos, and I said that did sound better. My wife went with the Poulet Grille, grilled chicken. Both came with salad 🥗 but my wife doesn't like salad, so she asked not to have it, and they gave many more fries instead, without us asking. I asked for the beef to be pink, and that was exactly how it came, and it was tender and delicious! The chicken that my wife got was broiled strips, and it was also very tasty. Both meals also came with French fries, which were hot and very good. We, of course, had wine with our dinner and ordered a Crepe Chocolot to share for dessert. It was fabulous! We would highly recommend Le Bistrot de la Tour and our...
