The schedule was very delayed, instead of leaving at 8:15pm, departure was at 8:45pm. There was no explanation as to why or how. There were people who were let in first in advance which might have been the reason for this delay but there was no transparence in that regard. Once inside, they seat you at your designated table, hand you a menu, and give you some time to decide on what to have. Afterwards, the boat leaves and they take your order for all courses and drinks. The top deck is open to access for everyone at any moment. Serving time in between plates was decent, gives you enough time to digest and enjoy the taste of your food. Non-alcoholic and a good variety of alcoholic beverages available. The food was delicious, not the most exceptional for the price of the experience, mind you, but some of it was still good. The trio starter was the best. I ordered the bass which was slightly overcooked. The baba with rhum and hibiscus syrup was very nice and the flavors were harmonious. The dim lights help with the atmosphere. On the way back, the boat stopped for some moments by the Eiffel Tower so people could take pictures together. During the cruise, there was a photography company that would take pictures of you and anyone else at the table. Depending on how many photos they take and how many you are in one seating, one photo can cost 20 euros. All in all, it was an alright experience. I got my reservation for a discounted price from a booking website, but I would not pay 80+ euros for another experience. It's just something I would enjoy doing once for the sake of experiencing it. I recommend looking into your different options and prices, and compare each of them to see what fits you best. Also, don't be daunted by the premise of a 'fancy', expensive dinner cruise along the Seine. The Capitaine Fracasse is semi-formal at best and there is no strict dresscode. People can come wearing shorts, Birkenstocks, jeans, etc. No need to be too smart for...
Read moreOn October 10th I wanted to surprise my husband for our anniversary and I reserved the dinner cruise, paying 95 euros for each one. The idea was to have a very special dinner with the beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and to other Parisian monuments. To put in context, the previous day in Paris were rainy. We arrived to the cruise and entered with no problems, the welcome was quite good. When the cruise left the port (close to Bir-Hakeim bridge), and was already in the middle of the Seine, they made an announcement saying that because of the level of the river" they would not be able to do the regular cruise route", which meant not going to the Eiffel Tower and so on, they said that they would do the other route through la Seine Musicale which is in the other side of the river where there are no nice sightseeing With me husband we were very dissapointed and the other couples in the cruise where like that as well. I understand the situation of the river level and the reasons why they decided not to do the standard route (safety reasons), which I don't understand is why the did not made an effort to announce that in advance... by phone or email or even before entering to the cruise, they could have given us the option of rescheduling or going if we wanted, or even have given us a special treat for the disappointment, but nothing of this happened. For me it was a total lack of respect, the conditions of the service and expectations were not honored. And we could not do anything once the cruise departed... I felt really dissapointed. After that I asked for the reimbursement which they denied justifying that I paid with cheques vacances, and they only offered 30% discount in my next visit. The service in the cruise was good, the food as well very good quality, but the customer service very bad. There was no solution proposed to the situation. What it meant to be a special occasion, became...
Read moreA Memorable Dinner Cruise on Le Capitaine Fracasse
We recently enjoyed a fantastic dinner cruise aboard Le Capitaine Fracasse with a group of 12, and it was an experience to remember. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully curated and professionally executed.
The food was a true highlight—authentic French cuisine at its best. The appetizer was especially delightful, offering a trio of classic French starters that gave everyone a flavorful introduction to the country’s culinary traditions. The main course was equally impressive, and we ended the meal with a refreshing fresh fruit salad, which was the perfect light finish after such a rich and satisfying dinner.
We opted for the Amiral menu, which included a selection of white, rosé, and red wines—all of which were excellent and paired beautifully with the meal. The staff was accommodating and attentive, even offering tailored dishes for guests with allergies, which was greatly appreciated.
The boat itself is clean and well-maintained—more modern than many others offering similar experiences. The ability to step outside during the cruise and enjoy the panoramic views of Paris was a major plus, and the deck was spacious enough for everyone to take in the sights comfortably.
This was my second time on Le Capitaine Fracasse—first with family, and this time for a business outing—and both experiences were more than enjoyable. Booking online was seamless, with excellent follow-up and support throughout. The platform’s ability to switch between French and English and offer modern payment options made the process even smoother.
At 2 hours and 15 minutes, the cruise offers just the right amount of time to savor the meal and soak in the views. I wholeheartedly recommend this dinner cruise for both personal and...
