I am a returning customer and was excited to come back to this hotel. I booked through a site that offers upgrade and discounts due to my status. When checking in, i was not mentioned any upgrade nor discount. Only the early check in if i remember well.
Fine, not sure that all the rooms were booked but in case the upgrade is not possible, i think it would be nice to acknowledge that they have tried but impossible.
I was given a room 103 if i remember well, on the 2nd floor. Let's start with the good points: roomy, comfortable bed. Nespresso machine in. I had to ask for pods, which were supplied the 1 day only. I haven't asked for more but I think it would be nice to refill a couple of pods a day automatically.
The breakfast room: they were kind of slow to clean the tables to make space to the guests. But the food was good. I ordered an espresso and for breakfast I expected more that the ristretto they brought to me. No worries I guess they d have corrected it I had asked for it.
Now the big no go, absolutely not acceptable in Paris City center at this price:
room quite noisy. You'll hear doors slapping from corridor. And there is more traffic than I would expect for such small corridor. Also, when neighbor flush the toilets, you'll hear the water. Not pleasant.
last and to me, it's a no go: wifi is included and not reliable at all. I happen to have a foreign phone, needed to work... Well...I was literally unable to connect the wifi consistently. Random connection... Which drive me crazy.
Bottom line... Not sure if I'd come back. I like the place, but some details will, i think, push me to book a cheaper place for more...
Read moreWe stayed at L’empire for a week on our French vacation. It was a nice stay overall. I have several pros and cons to it.
Pros: the location is excellent. You are in the 1st and can easily access the metro at Louvre Rivole or Les Halles. This was great for planning our trip. The people at the front desk were always friendly upon arrival or leaving to go out. It did have a nice size bathroom for 2 people to get dressed at the same time. They did give us 2 pieces of chocolate from Angelina on 5 of the 7 days we stayed there, but I’m not sure where it was the other 2 days.
Cons: Price for the rooms are high for the quality of the room. We had no body wash in the bottle for several days upon arrival until I asked the maid to fill it. Our tv also didn’t work for the first 4 days until I finally asked them to fix it. The antenna had a bad reception and we picked up tv the second half. We didn’t watch a lot of tv, but it was nice to have on for going to bed and when getting ready in the morning. The bathroom also wasn’t the cleanest. I have also seen some posts about nespresso machine in their room, but we didn’t have one and had paid for the king size room. The room was also a bit loud. We stayed in room 212 and only had one other room on our wing, but you could hear them and the water running.
It’s not really a pro or con as I didn’t buy the breakfast at the hotel, but I would think you are better off getting breakfast elsewhere for the price.
I know that my review sounds much more negative than positive. Overall it was a nice stay, but I would probably rent an apartment next time in Paris for...
Read moreWe stayed in the Josephine Suite located on the top floor of the hotel for five nights. It was very spacious with multiple windows and a large terrace overlooking a quiet courtyard. The terrace had a table and two chairs to sit and enjoy our wine and cheese. The Nespresso machine supplied us with coffee and we were able to make some room in the small bar fridge to store a couple of items. Two large flat screen TV's were in the room where one would have been sufficient. No TV stations were in english. Not much closet/storage space. The bathroom was a generous size by Paris standards and the deep bath tub was appreciated after a long day of touring. The Josephine Suite is accessed by a separate stairway after you exit the elevator on the fourth floor so guests in this Suite must be able to climb a set of stairs. Fortunately the hotel staff delivered our heavy suitcases up the stairs after we checked in. A real asset of this right bank property is its proximity to the Seine. One cannot overstate the quality of the english speaking staff who were always personable and helpful with all requests. They worked in unison to deliver the very best customer experience. Hats off to Sonya at the front desk whose infectious enthusiasm and organization skills were exemplified multiple times during our stay e.g. she was key in our efforts to secure tickets to L'Orangerie. It was always a joy to discuss in English her advice for the day while she tolerated and encouraged my basic use of the...
