Disappointing Stay at Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi - Avoid This Hotel
I recently had a thoroughly unsatisfactory experience at Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi that I feel compelled to share.
Breakfast Fiasco and Poor Food Quality On September 27, we were denied breakfast 1.5 hours before the stated closing time. The staff claimed they had run out of food due to high demand earlier. This is unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber. Proper planning should ensure sufficient food for all guests during advertised hours.
To make matters worse, when we did manage to have breakfast on other days, the food quality was horrible. This consistently poor dining experience significantly detracted from our stay.
Refusal of Compensation Despite these serious shortcomings, the hotel flatly refused to offer any form of compensation. They wouldn't even refund the cost of the breakfast we were denied. This stubborn stance in the face of clear service failures demonstrates a shocking lack of customer care.
Subpar Room Conditions and Cleanliness Upon arrival, we were greeted by a bathroom that emitted an unpleasant odor. This persisted throughout our entire stay, despite multiple complaints and supposed attempts to address the issue. The management's failure to resolve this problem or offer us a room change significantly impacted our comfort.
Adding to our disappointment, the windows in our room were visibly dirty and had clearly not been properly cleaned. This lack of basic cleanliness is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that claims to be of a higher standard.
Poor Room Design and Functionality We discovered a baffling design flaw in the room: the electrical outlets next to the bed would only work when the room lights were on. This meant we couldn't charge our phones overnight without leaving the lights on, forcing us to choose between proper rest and charged devices. This poor design shows a lack of consideration for basic guest needs and modern travel requirements.
Poor Quality Amenities The towels provided were in terrible condition, with visible holes. This level of wear is inexcusable and speaks to a severe lack of attention to detail and quality control.
Inadequate Problem Resolution Throughout our stay, we made several attempts to have these issues addressed. The staff's responses were consistently ineffective, and at no point were we offered a room change or any meaningful solution to our complaints. The refusal to offer any form of compensation for these ongoing issues further exemplifies the hotel's poor customer service.
Overall Experience This stay at Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi fell far below the standards one would expect from a reputable hotel. The combination of poor service, inadequate facilities, substandard food, lack of cleanliness, impractical room design, and a complete lack of problem-solving ability or willingness to compensate for failures made for an extremely disappointing experience.
I cannot in good conscience recommend Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi to other travelers. The issues we faced went beyond minor inconveniences and significantly detracted from what should have been an enjoyable stay in Tbilisi. The hotel's unwillingness to make amends for their shortcomings is particularly concerning and suggests a systemic problem with their customer service approach, overall maintenance standards, and attention to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Golden Tulip for Design in Tbilisi, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel exudes quality in every aspect, from its elegant design to the top-notch services offered.
The rooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and well-appointed with all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to get a good night's sleep. I particularly appreciated the warmth and coziness of the room, which made it feel like a home away from home.
The hotel's products, including the toiletries and in-room refreshments, were of excellent quality, adding to the overall luxury feel. The high-speed internet was reliable and fast, which was crucial for my work and leisure needs.
What truly stood out, however, was the outstanding service provided by the staff. Sali and Eka at the Front Desk were incredibly helpful and welcoming. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect, offering great recommendations and assisting with any queries I had. Their professionalism and friendliness were greatly appreciated.
Overall, my stay at the Golden Tulip for Design was nothing short of perfect. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tbilisi for its superior quality, excellent amenities, and exceptional service. I look forward to...

This has been one of my worst hotel experiences across several countries — possibly the worst.
Key Issues Faced:
Malfunctioning AC: Regardless of the temperature setting (17°C or 24°C), the cooling remained the same. Given the small room size, it quickly became uncomfortable and suffocating.
Poor Breakfast Service: Although breakfast is advertised from 7 to 11 AM, most items are unavailable by 8:30 or 9 AM, with no refills provided. The staff showed no willingness to address or improve the situation. The toaster was non-functional for all three days of my stay.
Bathroom Maintenance: The jet spray in the bathroom was not working. I reported it on the very first day, but it was never fixed during my stay.
Lack of Accountability and Escalation: There appears to be no effective escalation mechanism. Staff listen to complaints but take no follow-up action.

What makes this more disappointing is my prior experience with Golden Tulip in Tecom, Dubai (2023), where I stayed for nearly a month and had a very positive experience. That trust led me to choose the same brand for my Georgia visit — unfortunately, it did not live up to...
