Hotel Name: Mercure Old Town Room Type: Privilege, River View Trip Type: Leisure
My Ratings (Out of 5)
Cleanliness: 5. Spotlessly clean
Hospitality: 4/5
Service & Staff: 5/5. All staff were English-speaking and amazing. Special thanks to Glanza and the three Mariams at the front desk for handling our multiple requests with a cheerful smile.
Housekeeping: 5/5. Very prompt and efficient.
Room Comfort & Amenities: 5/5. The Privilege River View room was quite nice and thoughtfully designed. The king bed was very comfortable and generously sized. The room featured a proper, dedicated study desk, which was both convenient and useful. It also included a Nespresso machine, along with a minibar stocked with complimentary drinks that were replenished daily by the hotel.
The bathroom was spacious, with a large shower area, and was stocked with high-quality amenities.
The hotel provided us with adapters for our charging cables, though it may want to keep a larger stock on hand, given its popularity and high occupancy rates.
Location: 5/5. This is the hotel’s standout feature. it’s located just a 2–3 minute walk from the heart of Tbilisi’s Old Town and all the main tourist attractions. You’re right near the markets, restaurants, bars, and sight seeing points, making it easy to step out and return multiple times throughout the day or night.
Value for Money: 5/5. The breakfast spread was quite good, catering to everyone's preferences. The chef was kind enough to prepare some extra vegetarian dishes like Mexican rice for us, for which we had put in a request in advance. The location made it very convenient for us to enjoy various tourist and shopping spots in Tbilisi, with short breaks in between. As All Accor Platinum members, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel with a complimentary bottle of wonderful Georgian red wine and offered a room upgrade and thanks to the Front Desk Manager who offered us a complimentary early check in and late checkout.
Pros: The hotel’s location is fantastic from a tourist's point of view. The terrace restaurant provides good views. The staff are very cheerful and helpful.
Cons: It doesn’t feature a swimming pool or a spa, but there’s a famous sulphur bath facility next door which you can choose to visit. The hotel is about 6–7 floors tall, but then that doesn’t matter much as there are no taller buildings in the vicinity. There are no bellboys, but the front desk team readily offers to help if required. It doesn’t have an Executive Lounge.

Read moreManagement tries to hide the issues and lies on public forums. I've left a review on TripAdvisor. In summary we've decided to forfeit the night at the hotel due to several reasons listed in the review I've left there. Management got back to the review lying that I've previously stayed there and had given a good review. Thats a lie, never been to Georgia or that hotel before. Its not that the hotel was horrible but there were few factors of poor service that prompted us to forfeit our stay (i did not ask for a refund- I've just booked different hotel and left). Also, the response contained words to the effect that Mercure provides a superior service.. again, such a lie.. there was no one even to help with our luggage as that hotel does not have a concierge so we, two girls, had to navigate luggage with lots of steps or the alternate was very steep rump which was just as uncomfortable. There are a lot of creepy vides in the reception/lounge/public areas as there are too many men staring you down (1st time experienced it in Georgia after traveling the country and staying in many places). I would have now given 1 start the way management lied and gaslighted my experience with them, but the receptionist was lovely, rooms were clean and reasonable and hotel in general is understaffed so added 1 more star for them only. Overall, my review was neither here nor there.. we did not even stay there a night. I do not, however, appreciate that the management lies on public forums. What for? To hide the creepy vibe? To prove to potential customers that all is well when it is not by deceptive conduct towards another customer? I am also Diamond Ellie member (highest level at the moment) so I have stayed with various Accor hotels in various countries and know the difference between good service and not so good one. For me, this hotel, services and now management responses were definitely a...
