We arrived before the check in time, the reception staff were happy to look after our suitcases so we could go off and explore Munich. We returned some hours later and checked in and went to our room. The hotel is located really close to the main train station in Munich, so the location was excellent for all major trains, S and U trains. The walk from the main station to the hotel was not the most pleasant but there are nice bars and places to eat close by. The hotel is clean, staff are polite and were happy to help with maps, information on metro ticket info as well as giving us places of interest to visit when we first arrived. The piano bar was good and had live music each night we were there. The beer was good as was the wine so we were happy. The room, we were on the third floor and the hotel has three lifts. The room was spacious with a nice bathroom with a powerful shower (although it was so powerful it soaked the floor) and it had a hairdryer in the bathroom to. The room had two double beds in it with two sets of bedding, I called the housekeeping team, who explained this was normal practice for this hotel so we didn't moan about it and it was what is was. We would of like the bed to be a double. The tv was working and there was ample plug sockets for charging electronic devices. Our two main issues with the bedroom were the beds, one was really soft and the other really hard and the air conditioning, it was at best like a gentle breeze and if it would have been a hot summer this would not have been nice. We did not speak to the hotel about this as it was not a big problem, we opened the window and it was fine. |When it came to check out I passed the room key back to the reception team who thanked us for staying with them and bid us farewell. We did not use the pool, which was a shame, but we were too busy sightseeing and we found out that you have to pay to use the gym, sauna and steam room, E5 per person, per day. We both enjoyed our time here and were happy with...
Read moreWe asked for a quiet room and our room was quiet. That’s great. When we entered the room, I opened the room toilet door was immediately smelled of strong urine that makes me sick. We have to use wet wipes to wipe the toilet basin and toilet floor and spray with perfume. I thought that was it but when I wanted to use the cup in the room, I saw a yellow stain inside the cup, I thought it was a stubborn stain that couldn’t be removed. I rinsed the cup with water & wiped it with tissue and to my horror the stained gone. Omg, I couldn’t believed maritim hotel, not a budget hotel, would leave such impression for their hotel guests. Also Needed to pay for hotel gym and sauna usage for hotel guests is ridiculous. I travelled a lot around the world and I must say this is the first time I come across such hotel in Europe for hotel guests to pay for hotel amenities usage. I stayed in Maritim frankfurt, my stay was amazing there, nothing like in Maritim Munich. The hotel pool looks pathetic, is the same size as the hotel room, swimming from room entrance door to the room window. And no wifi at the pool area. No bathroom slipper inside hotel room so hotel guests walk barefoot 1 level up from level 6 to the pool area. Or perhaps call the reception for one. Pool water is super cold and I was told by the staff that Germans likes it cold. I was expecting a warm pool. Location is next to train station but looked rather sleazy, beggars on the street, dirty, just look not safe especially at night. Overall stay was ok for a short stay. We can see that Maritim hired cheap labour for their housekeeping resulted in such a messy and low standards. After experiencing the urine smell in the room toilet and the yellow stains on the cup, cold water in the pool, I’m not sure if I wanted to come back...
Read moreI recently stayed at what was advertised as a "4-star hotel," but my experience was nothing short of disappointing. Honestly, this place felt like a scam or some sort of shady operation. Let me break down the issues:
Outdated Rooms: The room we stayed in was outdated and poorly designed. The sloping roof made it impossible to stand or sit comfortably in certain areas. This is not what you expect from a "luxury" hotel.
Hidden Fees: Shockingly, the gym and sauna were not included in the room price. You had to pay extra to access them, which is absurd for a supposed 4-star establishment.
Payment Upfront: We were required to pay for the entire stay at check-in. This felt suspicious, almost as if they know guests won’t be satisfied and want to ensure they get their money before complaints start rolling in.
Horrible Service: The service was abysmal and the staff incredibly unfriendly. I made an honest mistake with my booking and reserved the wrong dates. Instead of offering any sort of understanding or compromise, the reservation department charged me the full price for the unused dates AND for the new ones. To add insult to injury, they wouldn’t even offer a complimentary drink to make up for it.
No Manager Available: When I asked to speak to a manager about this situation, I was told they were on holiday. This left me with no one to escalate my concerns to—completely unprofessional.
Overall, this hotel fails on every level and does not deserve its claimed 4-star rating. I would never recommend it to anyone. There are far better options out there that treat their guests with respect and offer transparency in pricing. Avoid this place...
