BOOK DIRECT!!! do not book through a third party as this will not be the best deal. i booked direct with the hostel (website is very easy to navigate) and paid €15 per night and got a voucher for a free half pint (or soda) at the bar. wonderful hostel. located right next to münchen hbf (central station). this is the kindest hostel staff i have ever encountered - they are beyond happy to give you directions and write down recommendations for you. they speak a variety of languages. beds are not assigned so are cleaned daily (if your stuff is not left in it). i stayed in an eight person mixed room. it was spacious, clean, with a table and chairs in the middle and two sinks to the side. bathroom and showers in the hallway and these facilities were very clean and are cleaned multiple times a day, was very pleased with their conditions. there are lockers in the rooms which are spacious and can fit a large backpack/rucksack or small suitcase. i brought my own lock although i believe you can buy/rent from the desk. in my room the beds had privacy curtains. each bunk has a shelf, light, and outlet, although the outlet is for a plug only and cannot take a usb which is slightly inconvenient. breakfast is available for a fee (i think €7) and you can rent a towel from reception. wifi is private and fast in common areas but was a bit slow in the room. common area is spacious and has a bar in the middle with seating at the bar as well as two attached seating areas, one with tables and coffee maker (pay with cash) that feels more like a breakfast/work area. the other seating area has tables and couches and is more dimly lit for the bar atmosphere. plenty of outlets in both areas and there is a usb charging station as well. common areas are open 24/7 even when breakfast/bar is not on. open to hotel/hostel guests only. bar has a happy hour period in the evening when prices are quite good. there is a storage area which you can use your day of check in and check out. i am not sure if the room is locked but it is located behind the reception desk, so anyone trying to get in must walk past whoever is at reception (staffed 24/7). there are safe lockers down the hall where you can store valuables on day of check in and check out but i did not use these so i am not sure about the process. next time i am in the area, i will be...
Read moreLOCATION|The hotel is located 2' walk from the main station, and the city town is a few mins away. Definitely walking distance.||STAFF|The staff is more than welcoming. I did my check in with a German blond guy, whose name started with a T (tut mir leid I forgot it!).||He was extremely available and kind, and gave me a map with the main attractions. Plus, despite I didn't think I'd have the time, I was there for the weekend, when museums cost € 1, I ended up with a few spare hours and I was delighted to visit the Pinakothek for a symbolic price. So thanks much!||The other staff I spoke to (at the reception and at the bar) were all very nice as well.||THE HOTEL|Is very big and comfortable. I booked a private room with separate shower, meaning that my room had a sink to brush my teeth but the shower is in a room on the corridor, just a few metres away. Although it's not extremely new, everything was clean and perfectly working.||FURTHER INFO|1) During the check-in, you're given a free drink voucher to use at the hotel's bar (which by the way is very cool, with different events every evening). I had a glass of local beer, very nice.||2) I recommend getting the breakfast (€ 7 and definitely worth, since you won't get that quantity nor variety of food for that price).||3) They also have a luggage room for you to leave your backpack or larger suitcase (I went with a Ryanair-size suitcase), which was helpful to enjoy the city without carrying my luggage.||4) The reception is available 24/7, good just in case.||I also recommend you book through the hotel site (instead of booking platforms).||And last but not least, I've also seen a sign on laundry service, so it's possible for you to do your laundry there as well.||CONCLUSION|Definitely...

👎🏻 Annoyingly noises until midnight. I was assigned to shared room D which was right next to the pub and common area. There was a Karaoke night on Saturday and I could hear and recognize every song. They set the rule of keeping quiet after 11 pm in the hostel but the pub was open until 1 am. I was in bed rather than the pub because I want to rest, but I CANNOT. It was very loud even through a wall. The shower room was awful. Weak water pressure and cold temperature. Require pressing every 30 seconds. It remained me of the miserable showering experience when I was at scout camping in the wild in 2001. Sometimes the WiFi was slow and unstable when in the room. It was fine at the pub or common areas but not the case inside the room. No window or sunlight in the room. The room is stuffy. Some small things make the staying experience less comfortable. For example, the locker is a deep cupboard instead of a drawer, which makes it a bit inconvenient to get things; the bed has no hooks and hangers, and people who sleep in the lower bunk have no place to dry towels; the door closed automatically but very loud if you didn’t hold it; the wooden bed rack made noises.
Overall, this might be the worst hostel experience for me. The lack of proper rest made me very tired for the rest of my vacation. The second star was just for the...
