We had the pleasure of staying at the Anthology of Athens Hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience!
The staff truly went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. A special mention must go to the reception team, who were the epitome of professionalism and warmth. They greeted us with genuine smiles, handled all our inquiries with efficiency, and were always ready to assist with anything we needed, from arranging parking to suggesting off-the-beaten-path attractions. Their personalized approach made me feel right at home.
I’d also like to highlight Chris, Airene and Ailana (apologies for any misspelling), who left a lasting impression with their exceptional attentiveness. They took the time to check in with guests personally, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. Their dedication to creating a memorable experience was evident in every interaction, and their passion for hospitality truly set the tone for our entire visit.
The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. Our room was spotless and well-maintained, with attention to detail evident in every corner. It felt like a true sanctuary after a day of sightseeing.
The food was exceptional, offering a variety of options that catered to all tastes. The breakfast spread was a highlight – fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I appreciated the use of locally sourced ingredients, which also reflected the hotel’s commitment to sustainability.
Speaking of sustainability, it was inspiring to see how dedicated Anthology of Athens is to eco-friendly practices. From energy-efficient lighting to sustainable toiletries, they’ve thoughtfully integrated green initiatives without compromising on luxury.
The location is unbeatable, situated in the heart of Athens. Major attractions like the Acropolis and Plaka are within walking distance, and the vibrant neighborhood is filled with fantastic restaurants and shops.
Lastly, the value for money is outstanding. The level of service, amenities, and overall experience far exceeded my expectations for the price.
I highly recommend the Anthology of Athens Hotel to anyone visiting this incredible city. It’s a perfect blend of comfort, style, and authentic hospitality. Can’t...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to stay at the Anthology of Athens, a hotel that is sadly overrated considering its five-star status and steep prices. Though the hotel’s location is its one redeeming quality—conveniently situated near several historical sites—the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
I booked a Premium Panorama Suite with a Balcony and Temple View for two nights, expecting to enjoy both luxury and comfort. Upon arrival, I discovered that the balcony's blackout roller, which is essential for a good night's sleep, was not functioning. I reported this issue to the receptionist right away, yet no action was taken to resolve the problem during my first night. As a result, I struggled to sleep due to the intrusive light.
On the second night, after reminding the staff about the unresolved issue, the hotel manager, Eleni, came to our room at midnight. Instead of offering a solution or demonstrating professionalism, she reacted in a confrontational manner—shouting at us in front of maintenance staff, stating repeatedly, “we are not slaves.” This was not only completely inappropriate but completely unrelated to our legitimate complaint. It was disheartening to witness such a lack of respect and understanding from someone in a management position.
Throughout my stay, the service I encountered did not align with what one would expect from a five-star hotel. The attitude displayed by some staff members, particularly in management, was not only unprofessional but actively detracted from the experience. There was a clear lack of communication and urgency to resolve guest issues, which is unacceptable in a hospitality environment.
In conclusion, while the Anthology of Athens boasts an excellent location, it fails to deliver on the quality of service and management that guests should expect for the high prices they charge. If you’re considering a stay in Athens, I highly recommend exploring other options that prioritize guest satisfaction and professionalism, rather than settling for a hotel that falls short of...
Read moreAnthology of Athens has potential. The location is good, some rooms are lovely and the support staff (especially the ladies at reception, the servers and the head housekeeper) are charming and eager to please. But, and this is not a rant but a plea for improvement. No one seems in charge. We encountered a different manager each day. The result is confusion and a bit of chaos. We were assigned an unsuitable room, (never stay in #102). We requested a change. First we were told none would be available at all during our stay ( our friends on same room type reservation who checked in with us received a larger room on a higher floor), then we were told maybe the last night, then finally we were moved on the second night. The room, while delightful leads to the second set of concerns, design and function. The vanity in the smaller room had no towel rack. You had a choice to place your toiletries on the vanity or the towels. Not both. The L shaped knobs on the shower are flush with the glass. You cannot open the door from inside if you have wet hands. The first floor does not offer the view of the temple that inspired you to book the room in the first place. Do not open the window or the exhaust from the street will overwhelm. The new room, was lovely, but the sliding closet doors cannot slide if something thick (think bathroom) is hanging inside. The breakfast room is on the top floor; the kitchen in the basement. Pity you if your order is missing an item, the server has to return to the basement for it. Fast though she may be, your eggs will be eaten or cold by the time the missing item arrives. In sum, this could be a lovely place if management can organize and if the designers actually stay in the rooms they designed and corrects the many silly flaws. For the sake of all employed at Anthology, I...
