Review: Kaleidoscope Imerovigli Suites - Grand View Suite with Outdoor Hot Tub

I recently stayed at Kaleidoscope Imerovigli Suites in the “Grand View Suite with Outdoor Hot Tub”, and my experience was profoundly disappointing due to misleading information and several service issues.

Misleading Information

I booked the suite through Agoda, relying on the images and descriptions from including, among others, the property’s own website. These sources clearly depicted an outdoor hot tub with a panoramic caldera view, which was the primary reason I chose this accommodation. However, upon arrival, I was dismayed to find that the suite only had a covered hot tub without the promised panoramic view. This misleading portrayal had a significant impact on my stay, particularly as I had scheduled time on one entire day specifically to enjoy the caldera view, including an indoor dinner at sunset. The lack of the expected view made it impossible to enjoy the experience I had planned, and it was too late to secure a reservation at another restaurant or a hotel with a similar view since I only found out upon arrival of the property.

Service and Amenities

The suite itself had several issues:

The towel rack fell down without any apparent cause. Basic supplies such as slippers, toothbrush, and toothpaste were not provided and had to be requested. Despite the high nightly rate of €450-500, the amenities were inadequate compared to other hotels in the same price range, such as Ikies. There was no in-room dining option available either, except for a breakfast. Half used shampoo and shower gel were found in the bathroom, which is normally fine but not common from a property of this price.

Response from Management

When I contacted the reservation team about the issue of misleading information on their own website, their response was dismissive and unsatisfactory. They emphasized that I had booked through Agoda, not Booking.com, Airbnb, or Expedia (the platforms they are aware of). However, this is irrelevant, as my booking relied on the same misleading information available on their own website too and they did accept the booking and fee through my booking with Agoda. The team refused to acknowledge any fault or offer a sincere apology, and they made no effort to resolve the situation at all. They seemed content to accept the benefits of the booking fee while denying responsibility for accurate information and customer satisfaction, which is simply cherry-picking from customers and unacceptable. They keep saying other customers have not raised any complaint which is irrelevant since this does not imply universal satisfaction or that the depiction is accurate. People may choose not to voice their dissatisfaction or may feel it’s not worth the effort.

Conclusion

While the manager, Dimitris, was very responsive and tried to be helpful, the overall experience was well below expectations especially given the price you pay and the response from the reservation team. Given the misleading advertising, lack of essential resources, and poor response to my complaints, I cannot recommend Kaleidoscope Imerovigli Suites. We had a wonderful stay in our suite (one of four in total). Very spacious with a pleasant rustic interior design, breathtaking view and a good amount of privacy for such a popular travel destination. From the very first day we were warmly received and could reach our host nearly 24/7 via WhatsApp with any questions we had with respect to both the accommodation and traveling on Santorini. I first must mention Dimitris! He made our stay so comfortable and provided excellent service. I would give him a higher rating if I could. The room and view were nothing less than spectacular for the price! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was awesome.
