We began planning our trip to Greece over a year ago. Our visits to Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos exceeded our expectations in so many ways. In Athens, we strolled the narrow streets of Plaka, Monastiraki, and Anafiotika, dined at cafes, shopped in the local markets, and admired the Parthenon atop the Acropolis from our hotel's rooftop restaurant. Making this long-awaited visit to Greece worth the wait—and we loved it.
We quickly fell in love with the warmth and charm of the people, who greeted us with 'Kalimera' ('good morning'). Their hospitality, healthy food, and passion for life deepened our appreciation for their history, their contributions to the advancement of democracy, and their profound embrace of the special moments that life has to offer.
While Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos offered incredible journeys through narrow and quaint streets, where their vibrant colors and historic architecture blended perfectly with the present. The warmth of the people enriched our experience by making every turn a memorable moment. A trip that would not have been as unforgettable without the hospitality and service from the Katikies' staff in Santorini and Mykonos.
From my initial inquiry and reservation through to our stay, the Katikies staff guided us in the registration process, ensuring exceptional accommodations in Santorini. After many months of friendly emails, it was a great pleasure to finally meet the staff at the reception desk for a formal introduction. It felt like reuniting with old friends. We laughed together and appreciated their warm welcome to Katikies. They were delightful and essential in making our reservations and transportation a seamless process at the airports and throughout our journey to Mykonos.
Katikies Santorini: I want to start by saying that my initial communication with Katikies, prior to our arrival, was a true pleasure and helped set expectations for all, which were fully met. Katikies arranged a transfer from the airport with a professional driver, Dimitris, who arrived in a clean and polished Mercedes-Benz. Dimitris was welcoming and provided helpful information about Katikies, Santorini, and available excursions. He was great! We truly appreciated his knowledge of the island and his conversations.
When we arrived at Katikies Santorini, we were quickly mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the caldera, the infinity pool, its restaurants, and surrounding accommodations and amenities. However, we also looked forward to meeting the reception staff and thanking them for making the reservation and transportation process a seamless experience.
So, when we finally met Stella, Theodora, Sofia, and Maria at the concierge counter, it was a true delight. They welcomed us to Katikies with warm smiles, true to the spirit of Santorin. Although few words can describe the magic of Santorini's sunset, we are incredibly grateful to Katikies and their staff for the exceptional accommodations and support, which made all the difference in creating an unforgettable experience.
While the entire Katikies team made our stay in Santorini and Mykonos special, we would like to take this opportunity to express our Gratitude and appreciation to Stella, Theodora, Sofia, and Maria and Dimitri at concierge and driver in Santorini, and to Dora, Sefi, and Lentina Lydia in Mykonos, as well as the evening concierge and restaurant staff for their service and dedication to excellence. You were wonderful.
Their customer service and assistance made our trip to Santorini and Mykonos an unforgettable experience. We ask that you please extend our gratitude for their service and creating a fantastic experience that we will both treasure for many, many years.
We wish you and the Katikies family continued success and look forward to returning to Greece for another incredible journey, someday.
Best always, Rafael Cardona and...

Read moreWe walked into Katikies because of the sign that says Katikies Santorini – Champagne Bar. To us, a bar is a bar, so we thought it was open to the public. Out of respect, we asked an employee how to get there, and he kindly pointed us down to the pool/bar area. At the pool another staff member told us it’s fine to stay if we spend around €100, but since he wasn’t 100% sure, he asked us to go back to reception and confirm. All good, no problem with that.
On the way back up, a couple other employees were also super kind, smiling, and showing us the way. Honestly, everyone until that point made us feel welcome.
But then… as soon as we got off the last elevator, one guy came at us with the worst attitude I’ve ever seen in a so-called 5 star hotel. He didn’t greet us, didn’t explain anything — he just started interrogating us like we were criminals: “First of all, what were you doing there? Who told you you could go there? How do I know what you’ve been doing there?” All with this aggressive tone and expression like we’d just snuck into a private party. My wife was shocked — he talked down to us like we were children. It killed our entire mood and honestly ruined the day.
Here’s the thing: we never did anything without asking. Every step, we asked the staff first and followed their directions. If the pool/bar is for hotel guests only, that’s fine. Totally cool. Just say it upfront instead of hiding it behind a “Champagne Bar” sign that makes it sound public. Put a clear note: “Guests only” or “Pool access restricted.” Problem solved.
I run businesses myself in the U.S. and if any of my employees spoke to people like that — guest or not — they’d be out the same day. That’s not hospitality. That’s ego. And it makes the whole place look bad, even though the hotel itself is gorgeous and most of the staff were wonderful.
Without that one guy, we honestly would’ve sat down, ordered drinks, spent money, and even considered this hotel for our next trip to Santorini. Instead, we walked out feeling like garbage because of one employee who decided to power trip.
Message to management: This is a 5-star property. Don’t let people like that wear your uniform. Train your staff to treat every human being with respect. Even if someone’s in the wrong, there’s a way to explain it without...
