KATIKIES Our first time visiting the beautiful island of Santorini and stayed at the wonderful KATIKIES Hotel. The location is fantastic as it is a short walk to the restaurants and shops in town. The hotel itself like all others in Santorini are built into the mountains. The views from the hotel are simply spectacular. We stayed in Room 40, the honeymoon suite which was luxurious with a private pool overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The service at the hotel is world class as the staff is friendly, kind and courteous in trying to make the guests feel welcome and appreciated. A special acknowledgment to the men who handle the bags to and from your room as this not an easy task as since the hotel in placed in the mountain, there a many, many steps that is extremely challenging and hot. These folks handled it with grace and charm. The view from the two pools are one of a kind and a very special place on the planet and the service and food for lunch and dinner was simply superb. Angie was our server for most of our days at the pool where we enjoyed breakfast, lunch and cocktails. She was very nice and made us feel very appreciated and welcomed. The food at the resort is amazing, well prepared and presented. We cannot say enough good things about the food and service. All in all, a world class trip at the resort . The only comment I have is with regards pertaining to tips. It is not clearly stated when you check in that gratuities are not included and you have an option to take of tipping when you depart. I think it needs to be clarified so that you can make the appropriate decision and that the tips reach the great employees at KMy only comment to the negative is that tips are not included, and you find yourself tipping for every meal and when you get your service from the staff. When checking out when you receive your bill, you are asked if you would like to tip the staff which is fine if we would have known prior to our arrival or upon our arrival so that we could have handled it once and it took care of all the service staff. Again, if you are looking for a special resort in Santorini, KATIKIES checks all the boxes for a world class resort.

Katikies in Oia is without a doubt one of the most stunning hotels I’ve had the chance to experience. The location, architecture, and views are simply breathtaking. The iconic white buildings overlooking the caldera, the two infinity pools, and especially our suite with a private jacuzzi — everything was picture-perfect. However, the overall experience was unfortunately marred by the very poor service at the hotel’s main restaurant. At lunch, it consistently took 40 minutes to over an hour just to place an order — and mistakes were frequent. Despite the staff speaking English perfectly well, they seemed indifferent to even the most polite requests. The same issues were present at breakfast: long waits, incorrect orders, and at times missing items that were never brought — with the staff simply saying, “the kitchen is now closed.” This level of service is really disappointing considering the hotel’s high standards in every other aspect. The breakfast selection itself also lacked quality, and it was often difficult to get a table near the pool due to limited seating. That said, the fine dining restaurant Botrini’s was a completely different story — excellent cuisine, impeccable service, and a truly memorable gastronomic experience. It deserves full praise. Another downside is the lack of privacy caused by people from outside the hotel who frequently come to take photos on the stairs and pathways within the property. While understandable given the iconic setting, it can become disruptive — especially when you’re trying to relax in your private jacuzzi and find strangers just a few steps away snapping pictures. Other positives include the 24/7 WhatsApp concierge service, which was very convenient for making quick requests throughout the stay. One last thing to be aware of: if you ask the hotel to book a taxi, they charge around €60 per ride — whereas you can easily book the same route yourself for about €30. In summary, the hotel is an architectural gem with world-class views and amenities, but the service at the main restaurant and breakfast needs serious improvement to match the overall luxury experience.

My wife arranged this surprise trip for me for a milestone birthday. The pictures in other reviews don't do this place justice. It's simply like a postcard. It's one of the first places you get to in the Oia strip in Santorini, and it's an amazing enclosed spot with about 30 rooms. The place is phenomenal. 1. The views are amazing. I can't quite express how peaceful it is to look out of your own room or hot tub at the horizon. 2. The amenities and hotel are just right—not over the top, understated, and exclusive. It's all luxury. A hot tub in your own room and a terrace overlooking the scene can't be bettered. 3. Best of all are the staff. I can't remember all of them, but from the porters to the general manager, Theodora, everyone is fantastic. It's like staying with extended family who only care that you have an amazing time. Nik and the team at breakfast were awesome (à la carte breakfast btw). George at the restaurant and pool bar wouldn't let you lift a finger. And a special shout-out to the concierge and front-of-house team. Stella had been in touch beforehand to arrange reservations and made awesome recommendations for us, along with Chris-Anna. And a special mention for Sophia, who would see us every day, and gave us a big hug when we left. She also made sure that we didn't make any bad choices on shops or restaurants in Oia or Fira. If you can afford it and find a free slot, this is the only place to stay in Oia. Restaurants are a maximum of 10 minutes' walk away, but the service is amazing, and you won't have crowds coming into your hotel to ruin your zen. We stayed for 4 days, early April, at the beginning of the season. It was a little thing, but it was a bit windy one morning, and before we knew it, Nik had come to offer my wife a shawl. It's those little things that make this place the only place to stay in Oia. I'm sure there are other good places. But this is a banker. For the location, for the calm, but mostly for the friendly service that will guarantee you have an amazing few days of calm.

We began planning our trip to Greece over a year ago. Our visits to Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos exceeded our expectations in so many ways. In Athens, we strolled the narrow streets of Plaka, Monastiraki, and Anafiotika, dined at cafes, shopped in the local markets, and admired the Parthenon atop the Acropolis from our hotel's rooftop restaurant. Making this long-awaited visit to Greece worth the wait—and we loved it.

We quickly fell in love with the warmth and charm of the people, who greeted us with 'Kalimera' ('good morning'). Their hospitality, healthy food, and passion for life deepened our appreciation for their history, their contributions to the advancement of democracy, and their profound embrace of the special moments that life has to offer.

While Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos offered incredible journeys through narrow and quaint streets, where their vibrant colors and historic architecture blended perfectly with the present. The warmth of the people enriched our experience by making every turn a memorable moment. A trip that would not have been as unforgettable without the hospitality and service from the Katikies' staff in Santorini and Mykonos.

From my initial inquiry and reservation through to our stay, the Katikies staff guided us in the registration process, ensuring exceptional accommodations in Santorini. After many months of friendly emails, it was a great pleasure to finally meet the staff at the reception desk for a formal introduction. It felt like reuniting with old friends. We laughed together and appreciated their warm welcome to Katikies. They were delightful and essential in making our reservations and transportation a seamless process at the airports and throughout our journey to Mykonos.

Katikies Santorini: I want to start by saying that my initial communication with Katikies, prior to our arrival, was a true pleasure and helped set expectations for all, which were fully met. Katikies arranged a transfer from the airport with a professional driver, Dimitris, who arrived in a clean and polished Mercedes-Benz. Dimitris was welcoming and provided helpful information about Katikies, Santorini, and available excursions. He was great! We truly appreciated his knowledge of the island and his conversations.

When we arrived at Katikies Santorini, we were quickly mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the caldera, the infinity pool, its restaurants, and surrounding accommodations and amenities. However, we also looked forward to meeting the reception staff and thanking them for making the reservation and transportation process a seamless experience.

So, when we finally met Stella, Theodora, Sofia, and Maria at the concierge counter, it was a true delight. They welcomed us to Katikies with warm smiles, true to the spirit of Santorin. Although few words can describe the magic of Santorini's sunset, we are incredibly grateful to Katikies and their staff for the exceptional accommodations and support, which made all the difference in creating an unforgettable experience.

While the entire Katikies team made our stay in Santorini and Mykonos special, we would like to take this opportunity to express our Gratitude and appreciation to Stella, Theodora, Sofia, and Maria and Dimitri at concierge and driver in Santorini, and to Dora, Sefi, and Lentina Lydia in Mykonos, as well as the evening concierge and restaurant staff for their service and dedication to excellence. You were wonderful.

Their customer service and assistance made our trip to Santorini and Mykonos an unforgettable experience. We ask that you please extend our gratitude for their service and creating a fantastic experience that we will both treasure for many, many years.

We wish you and the Katikies family continued success and look forward to returning to Greece for another incredible journey, someday.

Best always, Rafael Cardona and...

We walked into Katikies because of the sign that says Katikies Santorini – Champagne Bar. To us, a bar is a bar, so we thought it was open to the public. Out of respect, we asked an employee how to get there, and he kindly pointed us down to the pool/bar area. At the pool another staff member told us it’s fine to stay if we spend around €100, but since he wasn’t 100% sure, he asked us to go back to reception and confirm. All good, no problem with that.

On the way back up, a couple other employees were also super kind, smiling, and showing us the way. Honestly, everyone until that point made us feel welcome.

But then… as soon as we got off the last elevator, one guy came at us with the worst attitude I’ve ever seen in a so-called 5 star hotel. He didn’t greet us, didn’t explain anything — he just started interrogating us like we were criminals: “First of all, what were you doing there? Who told you you could go there? How do I know what you’ve been doing there?” All with this aggressive tone and expression like we’d just snuck into a private party. My wife was shocked — he talked down to us like we were children. It killed our entire mood and honestly ruined the day.

Here’s the thing: we never did anything without asking. Every step, we asked the staff first and followed their directions. If the pool/bar is for hotel guests only, that’s fine. Totally cool. Just say it upfront instead of hiding it behind a “Champagne Bar” sign that makes it sound public. Put a clear note: “Guests only” or “Pool access restricted.” Problem solved.

I run businesses myself in the U.S. and if any of my employees spoke to people like that — guest or not — they’d be out the same day. That’s not hospitality. That’s ego. And it makes the whole place look bad, even though the hotel itself is gorgeous and most of the staff were wonderful.

Without that one guy, we honestly would’ve sat down, ordered drinks, spent money, and even considered this hotel for our next trip to Santorini. Instead, we walked out feeling like garbage because of one employee who decided to power trip.

Message to management: This is a 5-star property. Don’t let people like that wear your uniform. Train your staff to treat every human being with respect. Even if someone’s in the wrong, there’s a way to explain it without...
