We had high hopes for this place. Our hotel booked us a reservation for lunch the next day (Friday) and we realized about two minutes after the reservation was made (a full 25 hours beforehand) that we actually wanted to dine for lunch on the following day (Saturday). So the hotel asked if I wanted them to call them and I said no, I would be fine contacting them directly. I sent a message to the reservation line saying I had made a mistake and had intended for a Saturday reservation and to kindly make the change. We did not receive a response. I tried calling 3 times, no reply. We came the next day to dine at the requested changed time and they were extremely rude and unprofessional with us. I said it was no problem if they did not see our message and did not have space. The owner or Maitre D said no no you can sit. So we sat. He then proceeded to return to my table to harass me about the empty table they had yesterday because of me. Then ask me over and over to prove that I tried to message them or Call them, which I showed him. I offered again to leave politely if they did not have room to feed us. He said no problem again. Then returned to my table AGAIN to ask me to show him in his email thread where my message was. I showed him. He then says “where do you see my response saying it’s ok to change”. I said one more time, “would you like us to leave? If you don’t want us to eat here we can leave”. I’ve never been harassed 4 times like this at a dinner table by a host before… The server tried to recover, and the food was ok, but the initial treatment left a horrible Taste in my mouth, no pun intended. This literally ruined my last day in Santorini. As a chef of 25 years, I cannot imagine this in the...
Read moreArmeni Restaurant in Ammoudi Bay is an absolute gem and a must-visit when in Santorini! Tucked away in this picturesque harbor, the restaurant offers not only an incredible dining experience but also some of the most stunning views of the Aegean Sea. The ambiance is both relaxed and romantic, with tables set right by the water, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal while soaking in the beauty of the bay.
The food at Armeni is truly exceptional, especially if you’re a seafood lover. Everything is incredibly fresh, and you can taste the quality in every bite. We started with a selection of appetizers, including the most delicious grilled octopus and a refreshing Greek salad. For our main course, we had the catch of the day, which was simply grilled to perfection and served with a side of local vegetables. The flavors were vibrant, and the portions generous, leaving us completely satisfied.
The service was another highlight of our experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and ensuring that we had everything we needed. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and continued to check in throughout the meal without being intrusive.
Dining at Armeni Restaurant was one of the best parts of our trip to Santorini. The combination of fresh, flavorful food, outstanding service, and a breathtaking location made it an unforgettable experience. If you’re visiting Ammoudi Bay, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Armeni—you won’t be...
Read moreThe restaurant is very hard to reach by walk, as it is located right at the bottom of a cliff, and the panoramic path that connects the main village to the bay is not recommended if you’re not fit enough. We didn’t have any issue coming down, but others might surely have had instead, plus it is slippery and generally unsafe, as marks also suggest.
When greeted, the main server was quite rude to us in telling us that we needed a reservation (the restaurant was empty), which is fine as a concept, as maybe guests had to arrive, but he was unnecessarily patronising and kept saying “I love you baby” as a way to send us away “nicely”, which we didn’t like at all, totally uncalled for.
We decided to swim in the bay around and check in an hour, and as suspected, they offered us a table since the place was still quite empty.
They offered to choose for the catch of the day (100/110€ per KG), fish was fresh, and we ordered 2 small starters (one was pita bread), a caraffe of white whine and the fish which was 1KG. Total more than 160€, which seems to have become the norm in Santorini, but for us it was quite high.
The pros were that they offered us a complementary dessert (we’ve seen this been offered to others too which is nice), and the boat service to Amoudi bay which is also included in the cost.
Overall it was a nice experience, but with flaws, mostly linked with the customer service and the now unpleasant standard for santorini to charge very...
