Melitini — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

Rather dissatisfaction after seeing the other reviews. We had poor service. We sat down and were left alone for along time having asked for water in the first instance. 25-30 min before we received service. We noticed both waiters did not provide a name. Others sat down after us and served before us. We eventually made our food order and got advice, the gentleman was good and explained the menu. During the evening He kept bumping in to my chair walking past on 3 occasions only once did he apologise. We confirmed with him we had ordered water with the young lady when we ordered food. The deduction of stars are for the young lady and what choices had been made by the staff- not only did we never receive water, I asked if this is not on the bill. Which she confirmed, before we paid. Of course this was written all in Greek and I noticed it had still been added. May be they thought they would get away with it. She/they lost the tip for the waiters. It felt like it was done on purpose. No apology was given, I made a note of this. And had my husband remove any tip.

It left a sour taste for us. We will not visit again. What a disappointment our first day on the island and my husband’s birthday. This place had been recommended to us by our host.

The food is 4 out of 5. It was nice. The bread was served first with a looong wait before any other dish was served. So it was nearly cold before we needed it. Fava was very nice and the meat balls. The appetiser (saganaki) melted smoked cheese dish with sausage I do not recommend (melted cheese dish with two thin slithers of sausage). You will end up eating it on its own with a fork if you are not careful, was this a waiter issue I don’t know. We had the oven stewed lamb and beef stifado which were good. Lamb came as 4 pieces.

Melitini in Oia made our first lunch on the island an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with over-the-top service that made us feel like we were entering someone's home, filled with Mediterranean charm and pride. The views were nothing short of spectacular, adding an extra layer of magic to our meal.

The authenticity of the food was evident in every bite. The chef even took the time to come out and greet us, a gesture that spoke volumes about their dedication to the craft. Our waiter was equally wonderful, offering shots and sharing his expert recommendations, which we eagerly followed. The Greek salad, beef stew, pita bread, grilled cheese, and chicken skewers were all outstanding—each dish bursting with flavor and prepared with love.

Our lunch experience was so delightful that we immediately made a reservation for dinner to catch the sunset. And what a perfect decision that was! The sunset view was breathtaking, made even more special by the impeccable service and delicious food. The team at Melitini works seamlessly together, ensuring that every guest feels like a VIP.

Great option for a snack/full meal. We came for a snack and ended up with lunch! Haha

Dishes range from small to large, ask and they’ll tell you what’s larger and smaller. Our waitress gauged our needs by asking us how hungry we were. Her guesstimate was correct but we over ordered anyways, thus ended up with a lunch rather than a snack!

Ambience- nice upper deck(be sure to get some shade if it’s mid day!) mellow music playing and other parties around us hung around drinking eating and casually having a smoke(great spot for this!) Very chill.

Food- good/great! I guess it depends on your pallet as always, but for us it was great! We ended up with quite a few dishes. Pork, sardines, meat and cooked cheese!(try the Santorini cheese cooked!) Pork neck steak was a medium size dish that I enjoyed most, it was almost like a cooked ham! My partner and I enjoyed all dishes we ordered!

Service- top notch! As stated our waitress gauged our needs for amount of dishes needed and answered/suggested based on all our questions and needs!
