We came to Santorini for our honeymoon and reserved the panorama balcony at Petra Restaurant for our last dinner. Expensive but worth every penny! The view from the balcony is incredible, as you have panoramic views of the caldera and volcano. They set up the balcony beautifully with candles and a comfortable couch so you can cuddle up together for your meal. It was very romantic and private! They even offered us a cozy blanket after the sun went down and the temperature was slightly cooler. The table is positioned to give you a gorgeous view of the sunset through your entire meal and the balcony is in a location where you’re protected from the strong Santorini winds. Amanda, the sommelier, was extremely knowledgable about all of the wines on their extensive, high quality wine list. We learned so much about the wines we were drinking and the history of each one. Giannis was an incredible server! He delivered each course with impeccable timing so we didn’t feel rushed through our meal and presented each dish beautifully, explaining each one and how they’re important dishes in Greek cuisine. The food is a work of art! Each plate was just beautiful and tasted just as incredible as they looked! We were in awe! The best food we’ve ever had in our lives! There wasn’t a single thing we didn’t LOVE, which is saying a lot as one of us is not a big fan of seafood, but the seafood-heavy menu was delicious! They turned this non-seafood eater into a seafood lover for sure! The music was perfect for the mood and at the perfect volume to not obstruct your ability to talk to each other or hear the servers present the dishes. We walked 4 miles from our hotel in Imerovigli to get to the restaurant in Oia, enjoying the cliff views the entire way. It was not an easy walk but was well worth the journey! (You can easily get here by car if you choose to forgo the trek, but we wanted to see the island. If you go by car, you will still have spectacular views as you drive through the mountains on your way there). Overall this was an experience of a lifetime and we would highly recommend eating at Petra Restaurant to anyone traveling to Santorini! In our opinion, they deserve 3 Michelin stars! Simply incredible food, service and atmosphere! The perfect place to end...
Read moreOur honeymoon in Santorini was already magical, but our dining experience at Petra Restaurant took it to another level. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our servers, Michael and Alexandra, who were nothing short of exceptional. They went above and beyond, not just in their service at the restaurant but also by offering us incredible recommendations for things to do around Santorini and neighboring islands. Their local insights made our first visit to Greece truly unforgettable.
The setting at Petra is unparalleled. We were fortunate enough to sit at the infinity pool table, where we were treated to a breathtaking view of the sunset over Oia. It’s the kind of view that dreams are made of, perfectly complementing the exquisite meal that followed.
The food was an incredible journey through the flavors of Greece. Each course of the pre-fixe menu came with a story, enriching our understanding and appreciation of the ingredients and traditions behind the dishes. The grilled calamari noodles, in particular, were a standout—perfectly cooked and paired with Santorini pistachios and salicornia. Every bite was a revelation.
The cocktails at Petra are something truly special, crafted with care and creativity, and only available at the restaurant. We tried several, and each one was a unique and delightful experience, perfectly complementing the meal.
The menu was a masterpiece.
Highly recommend this restaurant as it was an investment in a culinary experience that we will remember for a lifetime. The food, the service, the atmosphere—everything was beyond what we could have imagined. If you’re in Santorini, whether for a special occasion or just to treat yourself, Petra Restaurant is a must. We left not just satisfied but enriched, with memories of an evening that truly encapsulated the beauty and flavor of Greece.
A heartfelt thank you to Michael and Alexandra, and the entire Petra team, for making our honeymoon so special. We will be talking about this experience for...
Read moreI proposed to my girlfriend (now fiancé!) at the Petra Panorama private balcony. It was an amazing experience!
Melanie, the event organizer, helped me create the perfect set up. She arranged for red rose petals, candles, a photographer to capture the moment, and a piano player! She even met with me over video chat to go over the special details of the proposal.
On the day of the proposal, the restaurant staff did a great job of keeping it a secret. Our waiter, George, told us there was an amazing place to take a photo (at our panorama dinner that my fiancé didn't know about!). The table was set up perfectly and looked beautiful with the sunset in the background. When I proposed, the moment was so special and romantic. My fiancé broke out in tears as she couldn’t believe it. We took photos with our photographer after around the venue as a newly engaged couple. The restaurant is stunning as it over looks the sea and the historic town of Oia.
After taking the photos we returned back to our balcony for dinner. The food was phenomenal but our waiter George truly made the experience extremely special. George was the best waiter we’ve ever had at a restaurant ever! George had an amazing sense of humor, great hospitality, and really went the extra mile to make sure we had an unforgettable experience. Once again, I cannot stress how much we loved George.
Also our piano player Raphael (Sunset Piano Notes) was tremendously talented! He played my fiancé’s favorite song during the proposal and a beautiful last dance at the end of the night.
If you are planning a proposal, I HIGHLY recommend booking Petra Panorama balcony to do so! Also I strongly recommend Raphael as the piano player, as it will amplify the experience. It didn't feel like an ordinary dinner, but rather a wedding. The moment was truly extraordinary and one that we will...
