Prime Suites — Hotel in Municipality of Thira

We booked this hotel via Hotels.com for a week in July earlier this week but have subsequently been bullied into cancelling our booking by the hotel. ||||After booking and paying in full for our room, we received our booking confirmation and proceeded to book our flights which are non refundable. Then the hotel messaged via Hotels.com to say could I cancel my booking as ‘no rooms are available’. I responded to say I had already booked my flights, why wasn’t the room I had confirmation for available. The hotel responded to say hotels.com had sold the room too cheaply and that I would need to cancel. Hotels.com said the hotel determine their own prices, so the hotel literally decided they wanted to charge more. ||||After 48 hours of trying to speak to hotels.com to ask why the hotel we’re asking me to cancel, hotels.com informed me that the hotel had said they would allow us to arrive, but we would not be given the room we had booked and we would ‘have no services’ such as towels, bedding, wifi etc whilst we were there. We felt we had no option but to cancel, as we did not want to travel for a special holiday to be met with threats of an awful holiday. ||||I would avoid this place at all costs, if you book they will decide you need to pay more and try to bully you into paying it or cancelling your booking when you have paid for other parts of your trip. This hotel is absolutely horrible.|Firstly, the man who welcomed me, asked me 7€ extra (he said it's government tax of 1€/night), but i've already paid all taxes before and government tax is 0,50€/night not 1€, this person took my money to make himself tips. I didn't appreciate that.|And then, I discover a very dusty room, ants everywhere inside and outside.|This room wasn't absolutely not the same as these I booked on Booking (photos)|- no toiletries (just a soap dispenser as public toilets)|- normally it's Adult only hotel, but many children and baby in others suites|- no pets admitted, but tourists with dogs|- the light on the balcony doesn't work (i can't enjoy the balcony by night)|- the fridge leak.|- several switches do not light anything|- It's not normal that it's me who turn on the hot water tank on circuit breakers.|- There are coffee mugs but not coffee maker (absurd)|- no breakfast proposed|- it's not a hotel because my room is the only to not be cleaning each day.|- Very noisy place, no soundproof, many many tourists walk and take photo just at few meters and this place is in the very noisy street, not quiet place !|- no staff available|- the staff was unkind|- the bed was very very uncomfortable, the springs are very unpleasant.|- it smelled like sewers in the bathroom|- this room was probably done in a hurry|I strongly advise against this hotel, and plus it's extremely expensive for that.||very...

DIRECTIONS TO PRIME SUITES Start at the courtyard of the church: Virgin Mary Platsani Holy Orthodox Church.  You can't miss it. If you are looking at the water, take a right. You will be walking along numerous shops and restaurants. You will pass Poniros jewelry on your right and farther down, Mary Kay's Bar. Keep going. You will quickly hit a small square, filled with shops. Bear left so that the Meteor Cafe is on your right. Keep to the left and you will come to some stairs headed down toward a blue dome. At the dome, head to the left (Going to the right will quickly lead you to the old Castle of Oia). You will see a big, white "STOP" written on the pavement but ignore it.  After a few more steps, you will see gray doors ahead of you and a sign that says "Private Property." Go through the doors and you have arrived at Prime Suites.  Reception is to the left.

The suite I got was nice. You can tell the owners are trying to improve things: cleanliness and politeness. The front desk clerk came and got me as I was lost as most people on here since Google is wrong about the location. 4 stars since the suite I booked was a bit deceptive about the balcony being private...
