Hostal Inn de Petén #1 — Hotel in Flores

There's a couple reasons why I have only given this a 3 star but let's start with the positives. It's in a great location, the place is immaculately clean, it's cleaned every day even your rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful and had some reasonably priced tours. The negatives, online it says you can pay with card however this is not the case we were told we could only pay cash (make sure you bring cash with you as there are only 2 atms on the island and if they are both not working you've got a bit of a walk back to the mainland). The WiFi, if you rely on this for work I wouldn't suggest here it is very temperamental, we stayed 3 nights and every day between 3-6pm it seemes to cut out, it usually reconnects in a few minutes however still frustrating also one night it was out for a few hours so bare this in mind if you require this. There are 2 private rooms with a shared bathroom, these are located right next to the toilet as you walk in and is very loud with doors slamming and banging throughout the morning, night and day also people tend to drink right infront of these rooms as there is only a couple seats in the common area so was quite noisy. We were unlucky and had the one right next to the toilet you can hear people doing their business and people slam the door throughout the night and the morning even with earplugs in we were woken up numerous times so I'd suggest not booking either of these if you are a light sleeper as you won't be happy 😅 lastly there was not really a sink for washing up they do have one right outside the window however this is where they do their laundry (see photos) no big issue just brush your teeth in the shower just thought it was weird not having a...

We stayed a few nights and our stay was fine the rooms are a little dark and we could hear the room opposite loudly talking which was annoying also we only had a fan and it was absolutely boiling at 37 degrees! Had to keep the door open a lot of the time when we were in the room for some air flow. Staff were super friendly and they cleaned the room very well, we would stay again if it wasn’t so hot. They also have a second hotel just down the road and it has a little terrace which you can use aswell this was nice as there’s not actually anywhere to sit and chill other than your room in this hotel. Nicht einfach, hier eine angemessene Bewertung abzugeben: Wir durften schon um 13 Uhr einchecken, wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, hatten überhaupt super freundliche Gastgebende hier kennenlernen dürfen, das Zimmer hatte eine vernünftige Größe, das Gemeinschaftsbad war sauber und alles funktionierte wie erhofft. Es gibt als Bonus sogar ein kleines Frühstück bestehend aus Toasts mit Butter und Marmelade. Dazu gabztägig gratis Wasser. Soweit alles top. Allerdings ist Zimmer 1 eine Katastrophe hinsichtlich Ruhe und Privatsphäre: die Überwachungskamera filmt direkt durch die geöffnete Tür ins Zimmer hinein (auch, wenn man gerade durch die Tür geht). Der Ventilator wirbelt selbst auf der geringsten Stufe wie ein Propeller-Flugzeug mit entsprechender Lautstärke. Zeitweise zyklisch von stark bis schwach, ohne eine Einstellung zu verändern. Dabei nehmen die Vorhänge der zum Flur gerichteten Fenster eine Position ein, sodass man durch diese super reinschauen kann. Da es keine Scheiben, sondern nur einen Mückenschutz gibt, gibt es auch keinerlei Geräuschdämmung. Die Türen werden von allen Menschen nur geknallt und verfügen ebenfalls über keinerlei Schalldämmung. Auch der Lärm von der Straße kommt ungefiltert rein. Aufgrund der Tikal-Touristen hier endet der Schlaf somit ab spätestens 5:15 Uhr. Es wird ab kurz vor 6 dann zwar ruhiger, aber ab 6 Uhr werden dann die Zimmer und das Bad gereinigt. Ebenfalls alles laut und das Gemeinschaftsbad ist irgendwann zwischen 7 und 8 gerne mal etwa 15 Minuten gesperrt. Warum nicht wenigstens die Putzfrau später zu arbeiten anfängt, bleibt ein Rätsel. Bezahlt werden kann nur in bar, nicht mit Karte. Zudem fehlen Möglichkeiten, um Kleidung oder Handtücher aufzuhängen.
