Cool Beans - El Café Chilero — Restaurant in Flores

After 5 years of visiting during my travels to Flores and another 4 years of now living here, this is THE place I come to almost every day for at least a cup of coffee, the amazing cinnamon rolls or their delicious burgers. Not only do I love the settings, it also feels like a second home. Everyone that works here has become a friend over the time and the atmosphere is chill and unpretentious. I honestly don't get the bad reviews about the food. The bread is home made, so are the burger buns, jams, salsa ranchera, pies, cinnamon rolls etc. Chapu takes a lot of pride in making them and you can taste it. Comments like "the watermelon was overcooked" are simply stupid, don't believe everything bad you read on here and see for yourself. Cool Beans was a wonderful and relaxed cafe to enjoy good food and a laid-back and chill atmosphere, with great views looking out to the lake.

I visited this restaurant for lunch during my trip to Guatemala in November 2016. I ordered a plate of fruit and fresh orange juice. Unfortunately, they didn't have much for vegetarian or gluten-free options.

The restaurant had a funky and cool atmosphere. It was relaxing and laid-back with lake-front seating in hammocks and at tables/chairs. There was nice music playing in the background and it was just the perfect spot to unwind. There was indoor seating as well, but the lake-front views were the best.

We came here for breakfast due to the good reviews. The three different breakfasts we ordered were all blunt and tasteless, the fried plantain seemed to use oil that has been used 100 times. The funny thing is that 2 breakfasts has fried eggs and in the one they came sunny side up whereas in the other they came scrambled. I explained that I want my eggs sunny side up so they reluctantly changed my plate. They brought them back sunny side up but uncooked so I looked unhappy and the owner aggressively asked me what is wrong, I said and she took the plate even though I said it is ok.
