What was a really lovely stay has since been tainted as the hotel has charged my friend and I for an additional nights stay that never occurred and is refusing to refund us. ||||We thought we had a really lovely stay. Some of the pros of the hotel was the room was a brilliant size and staff were super friendly - after we advised we were leaving early to do the Tikal sunrise tour they organised lunchboxes for us to take when we were leaving at 6am. ||||Furthermore despite the noisy environment, the staffs effort to help us with our early check out made us think this had been a positive experience however we later realised instead of settling the bill we had been charged for an extra night that we did request/ book or use. It has been three weeks and we are still disputing this with the hotel which has been incredibly stressful and time consuming for us. ||||We are still hopeful that this will be resolved and the manager will recognise this huge error and refund us immediately but I would be cautious for anyone staying that requests could be costly if...

I traveled for 15 days through Guatemala and Belize, staying in hostels with shared dorms and bathrooms, and I can assure you I had more comfort than at Hotel Santana. First of all, the shower has no hot water. At first, I thought it was a technical issue, but from what I gathered, this is the best temperature they can provide. The staff struggled to assist me and didn’t speak English; even though I tried my best with Spanish, it seemed they didn’t care to make themselves understood. The rooms are basic and smell overwhelmingly of cleaning products, probably to mask the moldy odors. Overall, I definitely do not recommend...
Read moreI found this hotel very accomodating, I was able to check in very early (6am) for a small and very reasonable extra charge, I also booked a trip to Tikal through the hotel.|There is a restaurant attached which I had breakfast from a couple of times.|I paid for a "better" room and looked out onto the lake, so had a balcony and a nice hammock, this was really nice. The room had decent A/C. However the room was really basic, as in, 1 plug socket, so I could either charge my phone or have the tv on, not the end of the world but not ideal. Wifi was quite weak as I was at the furthest point from reception, again, not the end of the world.|I didn't go in the pool so cannot comment on that and there was a place that does laundry just over the road. |There has been other comments on here ref the noise, I would agree that it is not the quietest place I have stayed, but with he door shut and the A/c on, its not...
