I stayed at the Jo & Joe Budapest for 3 nights for my friend’s wedding. I had originally booked another hostel but after seeing reviews of bed bugs I got too anxious and realized this one had just opened. (Living in Paris I knew it was a reputable chain). Even booking last minute for a private room, it was affordable at 200 euros for 3 nights. The private room was small and simple, but perfect for my needs, a private bathroom and separate toilet, coat hanger and small desk. Everything was spotless, modern, staff was so friendly and helpful, and the vibes are great. Not a seedy party hostel, but a safe clean place (I’m 28 so I’ve done my day at party hostels!) The mattress is latex (like a gym mat) so maybe not the most comfortable but very hygenic and reassuring. Even being in the center of the city (in the Jewish quarter, amazing location close to metro, trams and bus) the room was very quiet and I slept very well.
The only two very small things I would note is that the breakfast is a bit expensive (10 euros) for the quality & quantity (just bread, muesli and yogurt, coffee, a little cheese and meat and fruit) when you can get a more substantial meal elsewhere for the same price, and I wished that the lights in the room could have been dimmed as they were quite bright.
Otherwise definitely perfect & I will be back during my next stay in Budapest!
Thank you so much to the staff, it...
Read moreBeing one of their first guests was a rare, special and unexpected privilege! The staff at the front desk and in the hostel were warm, friendly and very helpful. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with just enough room in the window frame to sit and watch people go by. The beds are supportive and my partner and I slept well. The mirrors had colour temperature adjustable lighting which we came to really enjoy during our stay. I will also emphasize that the interior decor is particularly amazing, including the bottles around the bar, the graffiti artist inspired wall paper in the bathrooms, giant moon in the courtyard, 7 storey tall artwork on the next door wall and designs on the walls of the hostel. The light sensor purple doorway lights to your room are a surprisingly impressive feature. Overall, a great place to stay and with the glass frontage and excellent location, in the heart of the ruin bar district, drained to be a stand out in the Budapest accommodation...
