Istanbul Kebab Akácfa — Restaurant in Budapest

This place looks appealing and modern but the most important thing is the food.

Ordering was a bit complicated as we were not sure about the menu.

We decided to go for something on display. Saw a makeshift chicken parmersan... a big chunky battered chicken fillet with cheese(s) and salad on top served with cheese.

Now the portion size was good and was more than filling.

But problems: While eating the meat I noticed firstly it was just about luke warm... which isnt good enough. Its from the display and then I think they microwaved it or something. But obviously not enough... I dont mind too much it wasnt made fresh to order (as it was kept in a warmer) but it should have been piping hot.

After a few bites of the meat I noticed the chicken did not look white. I have had proper fresh well cooked chicken... its almost perfectly white inside and bit watery / shiny texture. This was dry and was pinkish. Definitely pink tint to it. My partner said its ok to eat so ate it.

We sat in a quiet area upstairs which was comfortable.

They have a Turkish tea machine with small glasses but theres no sign to tell customers if its complimentary or paid tea... No staff was there to ask...

This place was my all time favorite! I used to eat here wherever I could. The kebab was excellent, the staff was very friendly. But, after our latest visit today, I left this place with broken heart, with empty stomach and with the will, that I never come back. Never ever. I explain it to you, why: After my wife and I ordered our plates of kebab, we sit to our favorite table, and started to eat. Oh my, what a mistake we did! The meat was RAW!!!On both plates!!! I immediately rushed back to the guy who served us. Told him what my problem is. He apologised, and said that he will give my money back. I said, okay. But the other guy, with that terrible accent, maybe the boss there, said this: " Don't give money back!!!" I was speechless: I get a food, that is uneatable. And not get my money back. I told the guy, okay, give me another plate of kebab, but this time, make it well. Well, I didn't get other plates. I get nothing. My wife get nothing. We left this terrible place. We are sure, that we will never visit this...

We were very optimistic about this place, but after arriving were left with a bad taste in the mouth. I was looking forward to trying the falafel with chips and salad. Salad however looked nice and fresh and tasted okay. But seeing the guy pick up the falafel and chips throw them on a place and shove them in the microwave put me off and then when he retrieved them from the microwave he began touching the falafels with his bare hands to see if they were hot. Under normal circumstances that’s not very hygienic and then with covid I was very disturbed. My husband got there chicken donner again they handled everything with bare hands. And the meat was raw. We left all our plates as they were and decided to go to Burger King next door instead after paying them the full amount. Oh and I forgot to mention as we were leaving I saw the guy who had handled my plate fiddling around with him nose. Would never go back...
