This booking was for a room with a kitchenette. It was a truly odd layout, with walking access to only one side of the bed, and noticeable wear and tear. However the big drawback was the hotel's failure to deal with a health hazard.||When we made the booking for this room, my wife asked for hypoallergenic bedding, as we are both allergic to feathers. The answer back was "it will be taken care of". We thought no more of it. Apparently the hotel staff didn't either, especially when our payment in full went through a week before arrival. ||We arrived Sunday afternoon, severely jet-lagged, and lay down for a nap. I woke up choking with an allergic reaction, and we discovered that both duvets and all 4 pillows were down and feathers. I contacted the off-site office by WhatsApp, and was told that replacements would be delivered by 19:30. As we were out to supper, I replied that this was fine.||When we returned from supper, the bedding had not been changed. No answer to a followup message. We went to bed.||My phone rang and woke me up after 23:30, asking if they could come and replace the bedding. This wasn't convenient as my wife was asleep but I said if it could be done quickly, that we would accept.||TWO staffers arrived about 23:45, profusely apologizing for the late hour, and the mix up with the bedding. They had brought only 2 pillows and no duvets, but assured me that these would arrive Monday. They also said they would address the problem to the manager so that a refund for our first (very much interrupted) night could be issued. They admitted to finding our request in "the system", but there had been so many such requests that ours fell to the bottom of the heap.||There was no further action on the part of the hotel. We had to live with feather duvets that were never replaced and allergies. No refund is even pending, nor have we received a formal apology.||I find this totally unacceptable. I believe their service level is amateur at best, and their management clearly doesn't honour its commitments. So while the room was adequate and close to the city centre, it fell well short of...
Read moreWe absolutely loved the Oddsson hotel. It was very convenient that they have a baggage drop for those of us that come in so early. The handy bakery downstairs is also a plus! We found that everything we wanted to go to was within walking distance. I think the farthest we walked was past the church and that wasn't even that far. The two day trips that we did were amazing and they picked us up jus right down the street from our hotel. The bed was super comfy and I loved that I had my own blanket and my husband had his own. It was very quiet and we barely ever say another person. The kitchen area is very well appointed. There is even a dishwasher! I think the only negative is that there is no area to lounge around downstairs when you are needing to kill some time. Not a biggie because the bakery downstairs has some super comfy chairs to sit in and they were very tolerant of people staying for awhile. All in all, an...
Read moreThis hotel has everything you need. From booking to check-out, we had a very good experience. Communication was efficient and easy. The location is excellent and you can walk to many tourist attractions. The facilities are new, clean and compact. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils for any stay, long or short. The shower is wonderful, with hot and strong water! In short, I only have praise for this hotel, and if I return to Reykjavik I will definitely stay here again.
Cons: If you are not traveling with someone close to you, such as your partner or family, you may feel a little uncomfortable because you can hear everything that is going on in the bathroom. The door does not close completely, and it is still somewhat...
