It is a guest house that is is run by a native Balinese family that are just wonderful, nice, and accommodating. Wayan and Made made sure everything was as easy and chill as possible - they really make sure you feel like family. ||Room: |The room they put us in was on the 2nd floor within their compound. It is a goegoues Balinese royalty inspired room with intricate wood and stone carvings. The bed was a king sized bed complete with mozzie net. It was a spacious room with a beautiful balcony and sitting area. The bathroom was spacious and has all the amenities including body wash and shampoo made from Bali. ||Food: |The breakfast was first class with a selection of fruits, juices, and meals such as Pandan Pancakes, nasi goreeng, scrambled eggs, or mei goreeng (there are more selections). It's all home made by them. ||Technology: |Wifi was fast and easy to connect to with no drop outs. The area receives 4g+ which was fast enough for international video conferencing. ||Environment: |It is a guest house but has a beautiful lush green outlook and water features found in a Balinese residence of great repute. ||Location: |It is situated in the back streets of JL Bisma close to the hustle and bustle of Ubud but far enough so you don't get city or loud noises. You overlook rice fields and other properties in the area with vistas of the mountains on a clear day. You are super close to an awesome Coffee shop (Inoz Coffee) and a warrung that serves delicious Indonesian food for 20-30k IDR (Papege S Warrung). ||Price: |You absolutely CANNOT go wrong with the price for the quality you will experience. ||Other plusses: ||They are very knowledgeable in the area and are prepares to help out with anything you may have questions for. They have transport to the airport as well for a fee (very reasonable)||We will be back - family...
Read moreBali Moon Guesthouse has a number of rooms on a quiet side street in Ubud. Location is very good for exploring the city and also visiting cultural events. Drawback for this location is that it is very difficult to reach on car, we walked the last few hundred meters. Though it's easily accessible with a scooter, etc.
Rooms are nice with large balconies, ellaborate wood carving details, and some art. Our room had an ensuite bathroom, which notably was separated from the bedroom only by walls,no separate ceiling.
The room we stayed in would benefit from a small face-lift with bathroom fixtures and walls in general. But we were satisfied anyway. Hot water took some time running, but it was okay.
The staff is very attentive. It's also possible to source tickets to cultural events and alike from them, which we found very useful. When checking out, I forgot something in the room, and they had found it and kept it safe.
Guesthouse has some good dining options nearby. Breakfast was typical balinese featuring banana pancake, fruit salad, omelet, tea and coffee. We liked the display and variation, though it took a couple of trials to get the coffee right :)
In my opinion this place is guaranteed value for the money. Breakfast was good, and we liked the variation. Wonderful staff

Read moreMore of a homestay rather than a guesthouse run by an elderly Balinese couple set behind a small padi field in a back lane close to the busy central area of Ubud. We stayed a total of 5 nights. Although the place seemed to have the kind of quiet and relaxing ambiance which we were so much looking forward to, our stay was abruptly totally spoiled by the host's behaviour on our 2nd day, all because of flat batteries in our a/ c remote control. Rather than simply getting a new set of batteries, the owners indirectly insulted us in front of other guests at breakfast by insinuating we did not know how to use the remote. Refusing to let go from his standpoint, the husband remained unrelentingly argumentative, showed us no respect and made us suddenly feel very unwelcome. He was rude and unreasonable (implied that we made his teenage daughter cry over the flat battery incident) wanting to argue with us whilst we were trying to eat our breakfast and being out to ruin the rest of our stay. Unfortunately, we were unable to change our plans and we had no choice but to stay to the end. From then on, at least, he stayed out of sight. It's a real shame but no matter what, because of the host, I can only advise...
