Mekar Suci Inn would definitely be a challenge to find: it is located off a main road, off a small alley, off a motor-scooter-type brick-way lane. I found it bcz it's next door to Kori Bali Inn 2, my first lodging in Ubud.|| The buildingstructure of Mekar Suci Inn is almost a mirror reflection of Kori Bali Inn 2, yet with a lower quality of furnishings. || MSI also provides a tall thermos of HOT water throughout the day, for making tea or instant coffee, provided outside on the balcony, with the table and chairs. The room is entered through a doorway of two narrow, darkly-stained wooden panels, hand-carved and lacquered. The walls and ceiling are covered by 'matting' of woven bamboo-strips. The ceiling fan functions well, though a good lubrication would be welcomed to stop the noise. The room is approx 10'x12'.|| The bathroom is large, with a sink, deep tub, and western toilet; there's plenty of HOT water!|| The room is cleaned+'tidied' daily. The sheets, comforter, and towels are clean.|| When I first looked at the room, there was a faint, dank, musty smell-- which was UNnoticed the following day when I checked in: when the rooms are cleaned, they are also sprayed with a pleasing (yet chemicalsynthetic, not natural) citrus spray. The room I stayed in was in the shadows of the roof's overhang most of the day, probably contributing to the potentially musty smell.|| The banana pancake chosen for the included breakfast was 'typical' Balinese style, served with honey: pleasurable+tasty!|| The staff are very friendly, understand and speak English.|| The Inn is located close to one of the Dance performance halls: the classical,Balinese music can easily be heard and enjoyed; afterwards, there is live music from a near-by restaurant. This stops shortly after midnight.|||| The picture shown is TOTALLY unlike the Mekar Suci Inn, which is of a 'traditional Balinese style.'|| I would recommend this inn to anyone looking for a clean, budget-priced room, with a...
Read moreI had trouble finding Mekar Suci Inn because although it says it is located on Monkey Forest Street, it is actually located behind a side street. I tried to call them to clarify the directions and there was no answer so I dragged my suitcase through Monkey Forest Street hoping for the best. When I finally found it, the downstairs was quite dirty and looked more like a storage space. It honestly looks nothing like the pictures they posted online. There is no lift so I had to walk up the stairs to my room. The room smelled of dampness and mothballs and not to mention the mosquitoes on there. It was so uncomfortable that the first thing I wanted to do was look for another room to check into.||||The people were very friendly but if they want to have a successful homestay they have improvements to make. Anyway, because they were so friendly, I stayed there for one night and early next morning I checked out of that place and checked into Loki House down the street. This one was a little better and at around the same price range.||||I wouldn't advise anyone to stay here. I would advise perhaps the swan or Loki House which are within the vicinity of Mekar Suci inn, are around the same price range and are so...
Read moreGood price, we had a big queen bed, lovely breakfast in the morning and a very cultural building. Fast wifi and lovely people own it. You can organise a pick up from the airport it's 35 Aus dollars I wish I did this instead of hassle of haggling taxi men! Taxi men are very rude and agreed 20 Aus dollars when I arrived he said no he wants 20 US dollars when you are tired from traveling this is annoying. The same man who collects you from the airport will bring you on a tour during your stay for 50 aud me and my boyfriend where brought to temples and volcano and monkey forest etc, he is very nice and full of information. I only had two nights here but I wish now I stayed longer as I would have liked to get beauty treatments and my hair done in the town. The hostel is located in the town. No bugs, my shower took a while to heat up that was my...
