Disappointing Experience
We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Adiwana Monkey Forest during our visit to Ubud. Unfortunately, our overall experience was far from satisfactory, and we regretfully cannot recommend this hotel. While the staff attempted to be friendly, it felt more like a performance than genuine hospitality, and the numerous issues we encountered left us feeling extremely disappointed.
One of the most concerning aspects of our stay was the pervasive presence of mold throughout the hotel. It seemed as though everywhere we turned, we were met with moldy surfaces. The high humidity in the area made it impossible for clothes to dry properly, exacerbating the issue. The constant dampness in our room was particularly unpleasant, as it made the bed sheets and towels feel unclean and uncomfortable. They did not just feel unclean, they were actually dirty. The mold infestation extended beyond the interior of the room, with even the pillows on the terrace covered in mold.
Another significant letdown was the breakfast provided by the hotel. The so-called pancakes were nothing more than muffins or cupcakes, completely different from the fluffy and delicious pancakes we had hoped for. The slices of bread served were so thin that they were barely visible, making it difficult to enjoy a satisfying meal. The lack of quality of the breakfast further added to our dissatisfaction.
In addition to the mold and breakfast disappointments, the hotel's attention to detail fell short in several areas. The provision of already worn house shoes was unacceptable, as it demonstrated a lack of care and cleanliness. It left us questioning the overall cleanliness standards maintained by the hotel.
We understand that some factors may be beyond a hotel's control, such as high humidity. However, the lack of proper maintenance and failure to address the mold issue adequately is a significant concern that should have been addressed proactively.
While the staff's attempts to be welcoming were appreciated, the forced and exaggerated friendliness only added to the unnatural atmosphere. A more genuine and sincere approach would have been far more preferable.
Furthermore, we must highlight another significant problem we encountered during our stay: the door in our room did not close properly. This resulted in a constant influx of mosquitoes, which made our stay even more uncomfortable.
Having mosquitoes freely entering our room not only disrupted our sleep but also posed a potential health risk. This oversight in maintaining functional doors and providing necessary protection against mosquitoes further contributed to our overall dissatisfaction with the hotel.
Additionally, we must mention that after expressing our concerns about the mold and other issues during our stay, the hotel management offered us complimentary shuttle transport to our next location. While this gesture was appreciated, it was disheartening that they did not delve deeper into the specifics of our problems. It gave the impression that they were already aware of the ongoing issues, which further compounded our disappointment.
A more proactive approach to addressing guest concerns and actively working to rectify the problems would have demonstrated a greater commitment to guest satisfaction. It is essential for hotels to listen to their guests and take their concerns seriously, striving to improve the overall experience.
Unfortunately, despite the offered shuttle transport, the lack of a thorough investigation into our issues left us feeling dissatisfied and confirmed our decision not to recommend this hotel to others.
Given the moldy conditions, subpar breakfast, and lack of cleanliness, we cannot recommend staying at the Adiwana Monkey Forest. It is essential for hotels to prioritize the comfort and well-being of their guests, and unfortunately, this hotel fell short in several critical areas. We would strongly advise considering alternative accommodations in the area for a more pleasant and...

Read moreA friend and I stayed here for two weeks. We picked it as it was smack in the centre of Monkey Forest Road, had a pool, air con in the rooms, a restaurant and a spa.||It was absolutely perfect - the rooms aren't huge, but they have everything needed - a fridge, bath, separate shower and toilet, kettle, coffee and tea, toiletries and balconies. We stayed at a room at the rear and were really impressed at how quiet it was, given that we were in the heart of Ubud on one of the busiest streets. ||The room rate included a fabulous breakfast which has both western (bircher, waffles, eggs) and local choices (nasi goreng), as well as balinese coffee or a regular cappuccino, and fresh juices. The breakfast can be delivered to the room to have on the balcony, which was great, but the breakfast in the restaurant included a really tasty bubur (rice porridge - like a congee) with sides, which was really delicious. ||The restaurant has a pretty good menu - not huge but enough to choice from if you didn't feel like venturing out - a soto ayam, which was great, as well as a burger. there were also some great desserts, including a fabulous pisang goreng (fried banana) and dadar gulung (crepes with grated coconut).||The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always happy to bring food of drinks to the room, and greeting us on our return from a day out.||The pool was fantastic - a couple of reviews indicated the pool was cool, but on a really hot day, who wants to be in a warm pool? The pool had a natural shape and was in dappled sunlight most of the day thanks to the frangipanis and palm trees surrounding it, so you could spend quality time in the pool without getting sunburned.||The spa was great - lovely staff, well priced and air conditioned rooms. We had a number of treatments and they were amazing. ||There was a mart just up the road and Guardian pharmacy close by, so everything needed was...
