We had a wonderful 5 nights stay at Komaneka Monkey Forrest and a big shout out to the entire team for making our trip a memorable and a pleasant stay. Location wise it's a convenient location right in the middle of Ubud town and easy to get around. We have stayed at different Ubud properties and we tend to avoid properties in Ubud town as it can get busy but this property was peaceful and quiet even though it's in the middle of town and very convenient if you want to stay in town area.
This is our second stay at a Komaneka property and we love their focus on local arts and culture which is displayed all across the properties from the paintings from local painters to the sculptures and design of the rooms. Such a great boutique property group and we love what they are doing to promote local arts.
We stayed in a suite room which was very spacious, good layout and decorated tastefully. Even though this is their oldest property we didn't feel it's tired.
Service in the resort is where I think Komaneka stands out, all the staffs from front desk to restaurant staff to gardeners all have been trained very well and it shows in the smiles you get as you walk by to the greetings by your name. That is simply put FS, Aman or Ritz Carlton standards and you do get spoiled by attentive and warm service all throughout our stay. Kudos to the Komaneka management team for keeping the service standard in such high standards.
Food at the restaurant is of high standard and al carte breakfast has a wide variety of dishes and comes in freshly cooked to order. Afternoon tea is a everyday treat and it is complimentary, which is again a added treat.
For hotels in this mid price range, Komaneka stands out with their dedication to local arts, culture, standards and service and we just love what...
Read moreLocated bang in the center of Ubud amidst lush paddy fields, we felt right at home. The welcome was great, the staff ever so cordial and always warm. The ambience instills calmness, there is greenery everywhere you turn that yo forget that you just entered from a bustling street, it is well shielded from the noise yet a stones throw away from all the major ubud attractions. The rooms were generous, a beautiful view of the paddy fields where we could spot some munias trying to pick at the grains and a great balcony with our very own koi pond which excited my kid to no end. In addition, the staff had provided a crib for my child as well, no complaints there at all.|The pool was well-maintained, surroundings calm again. ||We had opted for breakfast in the hotel and that's the only thing that was disappointing. They had hardly any options for vegetarians or vegans. It was just 2 or 3, nothing that could fill you up sufficiently for the adventure ahead. This is tedious especially when you're staying for more than two days. We ate the same thing every morning which was either fruit bowl or fried rice, even the bread had eggs so we couldn't have the avo toast which otherwise could have been a good option for vegetarians (which doesn't include egg) or vegans. I'm surprised, considering that Ubud is steeped in Veganism they had very few options for us. This is something they need to look into and become more inclusive in their menu, especially with breakfasts since most opt for it. ||This is a great place to stay in if you want to be at walkable distance from the monkey forest, ubud palace, the market, some great restos etc., and if you are able to deal with the...
Read moreI am giving this 5 stars main due to the staff as they are wonderful, I probably should have given 4 but the staff went above to help my slighty sick wife.
They are rated as a 5 star resort, but i would think in reality it is probably a 4 star, but thats okay as that I think is what the prices per night relects
Positives Above Excellent Staff, when my wife was a bit sick it was like having family, very caring and supportive Location - right in the middle on monkey forrest road, no getting car in mad traffic to bring you to dinner Breakfast - well cooked and an okay choice, could have a few more opitions Pool - pool is nice and as its a small resort not many people Villas - we had a pool Villa, spacious overlooking the rice fields, apparently the ones overlooking the river are better :(
Negative Well its a bit tired (maybe because of covid) but in my humble opinion it could use a senior manager / owner just to go through each room and do a quality check and perhaps a freshen up. In my room I had a list (which the promptly fixed) of things like dirty mozzie nets, dirty cutains, broken USB plug, download not fitted correctly, dirty walls, leaking bath, dirty covers on pool lounge etc etc. These were all easily fixed items and low cost (there were more that they could have fixed which I didn't highlight) but they were items I should haver never noticed as they should have been fixed before I checked, which is why I think it is...
