Bruxelles, a magnet for merrymakers nestled snugly in the bustling heart of Dublin, beckons with its promise of good times and great brews. Stepping through its doors feels akin to entering a whimsical wonderland where every pint tells a tale, and every patron is a protagonist in their own pub adventure.
After a thrilling cinematic escapade, my buddy and I sought refuge within the comforting confines of Bruxelles, eager to quench our thirst and savour the delights of the legendary 'Hop House' pint. Picture this: as we settled into our seats, the heavens seemed to part, and a chorus of celestial angels heralded the arrival of our liquid ambrosia.
Now, let's talk about this pint. It's not just any pint; it's the stuff of legends. With each sip, a cacophony of flavours dances a merry jig on the palate, like a whimsical parade through Flavour Town. The hops and malt perform a tango of taste that leaves you wondering if you've stumbled into a beer-fueled dream. It's a testament to the brewmaster's wizardry, transforming humble ingredients into liquid gold that even King Midas would envy.
But wait, there's more! As we revelled in our hoppy delight, we couldn't help but soak in the atmosphere around us. Downstairs, a motley crew of revelers boogied like there was no tomorrow, their laughter and cheers adding to the carnival-esque vibe. Meanwhile, in the rocker bar, the music pounded like a heartbeat, drawing in patrons like moths to a flame.
Yet, it was the upstairs sanctuary that truly stole the show. As we ascended the stairs, we entered a realm where time seemed to slow to a crawl, like a sloth in a hammock. It was a haven for the more refined palate, where conversations flowed smoother than a pint of Guinness, and laughter rang out like bells on Christmas morning.
And so, my amigo and I found ourselves outside, pondering life's mysteries over a pint and a packet of crisps. In the end, Bruxelles isn't just a pub; it's a portal to a world where the absurd meets the sublime and where every sip is a toast to the absurdity of it all....
Read moreUsed to frequent this pub all the time in the past. However on Tuesday the 21st of March, after attending a gig on the northside, my friend and I visited a pub off Stephens Green and then went to Bruxelles where the bouncer proceeded to "explain" to us that anyone who was coming from the gig which we had just attended ( which in its purest form is a comedy show) would be refused entry. When asked very politely why this was the bouncer refused to answer and simply grunted "not a chance" "not tonight" and told us to move away from the building without saying why.
Shortly after a large crowd started to form outside the pub because they were also denied entry to the pub for the same "reason". The bouncer was not only rude as well as very ignorant but actually seemed to relish in turning away what was at least a 50 strong crowd who were left standing outside the pub in the pouring rain. Pointing and laughing at the crowd with a co worker of his from the bar while they stood in out of the rain.
Worst of all it seems that some people, when quizzed where they were coming from and when they told this bouncer they were at the same event we were at, they actually got in! When the bouncer was asked why they were allowed he spouted the same nonsense as before. Also worth mentioning the bar was almost empty.
I would like to say that it was simply the bouncer that was terrible but surely the establishment is also somewhat terrible for hiring such a person.
Fair to say that the best thing about Bruxelles is that it happens to be situated by the Phil Lynott Statue. Take in the statue,...
Read moreFriends and I went here last night to celebrate another friends 30th birthday, which was supposed to be a night of fun and music we enjoy as Dublin has become very limited to rock/metal music being played. Sadly on arrival a friend who organised the event with yourselves was left stressed over the booking she had made, for up to 20+ people and was greeted with 3 tables for the party. We tried to make the best of the evening regardless of that situation. The Dj arrived and was playing music in what I thought was a rock bar? (Correct me if I’m wrong) only to be faced with an awful attitude from management on duty about the type of music being played. Again another strain on the night. To also overhear comments of “going in a new direction” and “metal isn’t welcomed” from management is deplorable, considering our parents, family members and ourselves have all came to this bar to listen to the music we enjoy, slightly discriminating if I’m honest. I’ve read other reviews regarding the pricing of alcohol/non alcoholic drinks in Bruxelles, and your response is prices are down to service provided etc, well last nights display of service was deplorable. 7:60 for a pint and then went up to 8:60 does not match the so called services you are supplying your tenders. I will give credit to the blonde bartender in the basement who did look after the party well. I will no longer recommend Bruxelles to anyone going forward, and to friends visiting from other countries.
Such a shame, you are pushing out people who have drank in this...
