We found this hotel when we decided to stay a second night in Capri. It was kind of difficult to find since it is found on a small path in town but we asked a couple of locals who directed us to the street.||We were greeted by the young owner who got us some ice cold water immediately then brought us to our room on the second floor. The room is very modern and clean with a fridge, AC. TV and safe. It is a quaint, very clean hotel with new fixtures. We also had a little veranda to sit.||The town of Capri is about a five minute walk from the hotel. There is also a Funicular (trolly to bring you to the port) for €2 Euros each way. This is how we returned to port to catch our ferry with our luggage. No taxi needed.||Since our ferry was leaving later in the afternoon and checkout is 10:30 am, we asked the young owner if we could leave our bags here for a few hours as we explore the town a little more.||The continental breakfast was superb. Fresh pastries, we had two croissants each, muffins, more pastries, cereal, juice, yogurt, water, milk, fresh fruit... all you need for a good start to your day. You can eat outside on veranda or inside in a quaint room. I had American coffee and my wife had two cappuccinos that the owner made fresh for us. They were great.||Overall, great stay at reasonable price, once you find the hotel... close enough to town, but also far enough to be away from...
Read moreYes, you read that right! Don't look for a sign that says "Hotel Guarracino" because you won't find it. There is a sign that says "Guarracino" located on a long wall after you make a turn off a path. In other words, the first time you go it may be a little difficult to find. The walk back to the main street in Capri has a long incline but one of the great pluses of the pensione is that it is off the beaten path. Quiet, restful, lots of flowers, large breakfast patio, and a nice room with a balcony. The breakfast is more than enough to get your day started with nice pastries, made-to-order coffee, and fruit and juices. Additionally, even with the uphill walk, the location is close to the main street and hence cab stands and a bus station. A little further takes you to the funicular that goes down to Marina Grande. The same path from the hotel takes you right to another path that you can walk down to Marina Grande (many, many steps.) We actually walked down four times but up only once. Finally, kudos to Costanzo and Gaia for pleasant and can-do attitudes. It seemed like Costanzo worked 24 hours a day. Great staff! If I ever go back to Capri, I would not hesitate to stay at the Guarracino again. One caution, if you have medical problems or any difficulty walking you might consider...
Read moreThere is an expression you eat as much as you pay. And you pay very little here by capri standards so you shouldn't expect a lot. The rooms were okay and the staff were kind. There are a few issues that I need to bring up though first the rooms are very loud. We could hear everyone through the walls. Also our first night here there was a party outside and we couldn't sleep a wink until they were done. Second the bed sheets had stains on them which was not nice to say the least. And finally the wifi signal in our room was very weak. We couldn't really connect which is a major issue. Still their hospitality made me feel I can overlook these issues enough for 4 stars. With a little improvement they can do so much better. Two other minor points: thr hotel room key is an actual key connected to a heavy Keychain. That's hard to move around. You should change the system to cards perhaps or go for a smaller Keychain. Also some sound proofing would...
