Below is a short and long review of the hotel.
CONS: Property gave away our room on the final night. The hotel confirmed with us and Booking.com that the they would reimburse our final night’s rate, but the hotel has yet to reimburse us any money. This infraction has caused Booking.com to remove them from their website for reservations. Front desk concierge is rarely available and inexperienced. Property manager was unresponsive to issues. Common space was not as they appeared in photos. Hotel does not have a “room” to change in prior to checking in, it was literally a storage room. High price for low quality.
PROS: Walking distance to Capri and from the bus stop to go to Anacapri. Pretty views from certain rooms.
Villa la pergola capri is not what it appears to be in person compared to the photos online. The property is appears older, the common area and lobby are dirty, dank, and unkempt, and the room’s hardware like handles, showerhead, and mirrors were often loose or broken.
We arrived early in the morning to check-in and the hotel let us know that if our room was unavailable there would be a place for us to change so we could go to the beach. Since we were early we understood that was a possibility, however, the space available for us to change in was a storage closet that was dirty and had dead bugs in it.
The concierge that checked us in was kind, but very inexperienced. We later learned they were mostly interns. After the first day we checked in there was rarely anyone at the front desk to answer questions or help with issues.
The hotel is located on an extremely busy and narrow road, which made traveling down the road on foot with luggage very dangerous. My wife and I felt uncomfortable traveling the road on our final morning with our luggage to reach an early ferry. On our last day we took our luggage and moved it to a friend’s hotel near the ferry so we would not have to deal with the trouble during the morning. We tried to inform the front deck, however, no one was there. A bell hop asked us if we were leaving and we explicitly told him that we were moving our luggage and we would be returning that afternoon.
When we returned later that afternoon to change for dinner we found that the hotel gave away our room. We literally walked in on another couple in bed. Since we still had the key to our room we were able access the room. When I went to the lobby to speak to the front desk about the issue there was no one attending the desk, and the cook let me know that they went home for the evening. The front desk was supposed to be there for another hour, but they went home early. The cook then called the property manager, who would not speak to me but told the cook to give me a key to another room. To reiterate, the cook, was giving me a key to another room without checking their computer system to see if anyone was staying there.
As we did not feel safe and we felt cheated of our experience in Capri we left and booked another room at a different hotel.
The next morning I arrived at the hotel to confront the manager, however, he was not at the hotel. The intern working the desk and Luca, the property manager, would eventually email me and acknowledge that they did give away our room and would reimburse us for one night. They informed Booking.com of the same intent.
It has been three months and we have not received reimbursement from the hotel for giving away our room. Since then we made a complaint to Booking.com and the website took this hotel off their website for reservations.
For the high price point you can find a better hotel, with real concierge service, a full breakfast (not plastic wrapped muffins), and a clean...

Read moreWe had an AMAZING STAY!! They gave us an amazing room and treated us like royalty. Enza was so kind and helpful when it came to information about getting around the island and made sure that we had everything we needed to be comfortable. She took amazing care of us and truly went out of her way for us. The breakfast was absolutely incredible, and the staff was super kind and always attentive to any need we could have had. The grounds/gardens felt like a spa retreat and the views were absolutely stunning. You can see both sides of the ocean of the island where this is located. Out of our 12 days in Italy, this is where we wanted to stay and wish we would have skipped the Amalfi Coast completely. The hotel is walkable to literally everything, and the location cannot be beaten. It is less than a 10-minute walk to the Piazzetta and Marina Piccola Beach. This hotel made our entire vacation, and I cannot say good enough words about it. I have zero complaints. I want to say thank you again to the staff and a special thank you to Enza for making our entire trip a dream!! This is the only hotel I will recommend to anybody that is planning a...
