I have previously been to La Pigna around 4 years ago and our impressions of it were good then. We visited again with a school group and unfortunately things didn't quite go to plan this time around. This may have been in part due to our guide not communicating effectively. However, on arrival we were seated and it was made clear the students would get a main course and a drink for 15 euro. Upon agreement of this they started serving drinks- a very bitter lemon juice type thing when many of the students wanted a fanta/ coke etc. Perhaps a simple miscommunication. The problem was rectified eventually but not without fuss.
When the food came it was great- no issue there.
The main issue came when we came to pay. We had received water (it was 34 degrees and our students needed some on their tables) and we were charged extra. Everywhere else we had eaten in Italy in the 4 years we have been going we have never had to pay for water. This was absolutely not communicated to us at any point. They wanted to charge us an extra 50 euro which was ridiculous. When we asked why this hadn't been communicated and why so much we simply got a shrug. We eventually paid it but we're not impressed by their attitude and it felt like they were trying to squeeze us for all we were worth.
Don't get me wrong, I know we were on Capri and obviously things are more expensive there, but we made it clear that 15 euro was the main meal and a drink (cold) and water at the start and they appeared to go back on this unfortunately. We won't be back next year I'm afraid which is a shame as the venue is nice and the food was good...
Read moreThis restaurant seems to cater to large tour groups. The food was ok-- overall quite hit or miss. Presentation was poor. Felt like cheap tourist food even though it was expensive for what it was. Ordered a 12 euro starter that looked like a cheap plate of chips. Entrees were equally basic and stingy. The service was kind. There is a nice view and the garden is beautiful. If you are a group of 50 people, this is the place for you. If you want something more quality and personal, ...
Read moreWe went here as part of our trip to Caprias it was included in the price. The starter and desert were very nice, but the main course, calamari, was like eating rubber, which was very difficult to chew. My wife had beef, which came out on a plate with heavy and a side of salad. The salad was just lettuce, and tomatoes cjopped and put in a bowl. Not what she was expecting for a salad on Capri. All in all, we wouldn't recommend...
