The Heart inside the Jewel Beyond the high quality of the food. Beyond the great taste of the wine. What else can define your meal as "Great" ? This is something i'll never be tired to write in my numerous reviews: The Atmosphere. This parameter is usually different for each one of us. Some people likes the heavy noises of the metropolitan areas, others prefer silence and tranquility, and others a midway. Every person has an ideal combination created by the surroundings, to make their own perfect atmosphere. Capri is probably the greatest jewel Italy has to offer among many. Unfortunately plagued by excessive tourism, but this is not enough to diminish its magnificence. Whether you are an italian or or a foreigner, this is one of those places in the world you MUST visit at least once in your life. Once docked at the port of Marina Grande, you can take the cable railway, the bus, taxi, or simply walk to reach the small city of Capri, on higher ground. From here, you can find many restaurants more or less refined, and almost every single one will offer a view on the sea. But its here, at the "Panorama", where i've found my ideal combination of atmosphere to make my meal truly Great. To find the "Panorama", you need to walk a bit in the labyrinthine small alleys of the city, that you can only reach on foot. You will find small indications along the way. This will bring you a little bit below the city center, and away from the chaos (and during the touristic season, Capri can become REALLY chaotic). Slightly hidden, the entrance will welcome you with a fragrance of lemon coming from the numerous trees planted inside the restaurant's garden. A true spectacle of colors in a sunny day. But the true wonder still has to come. Turn around the corner, and you'll be able to admire a wonderful terrace, with a perfect view on the magnificent gulf of Naples. If you want a table at the border, you need to book it, or to come here very early (like me), to get the best view you can possibly find. The perfect position will isolate you from the noise of the city center, and you'll be able to enjoy absolute tranquility. The incredibly gentle and prepared staff will guide you in every step of your staying, doing everything possible to improve the quality of your meal. The menu will propose you everything the south-italian tradition can offer. No sophisticated surprises. Simplicity here is the best choice. A chalice of wine to start. The selection of the nectars reaches far and wide from numerous territories, with choices of maximum level at your disposal. Even a simple pizza, made anyway with ingredients of great quality from local farmers, can obtain an even greater flavour, enriched with the local spicy oil, typical of these regions. Among the sweets i've had the chance to try the marvellous Tiramisu with Berries. A perfect combination of flavours. Highly recommended. Concludes the lunch an elegant italian espresso, enjoying the perfect view on a perfect day. How can your meal taste even better? Simply savor it surrounded by the best atmosphere you can find. And i strongly believe that many people can find their ideal combination right here. The best seasoning you can add to your plate. Truly the Heart of Italy, inside its most...
Read moreMy wife, our one-year-old son, and I recently dined at Panorama in Capri. The atmosphere was beautiful, the views were absolutely breathtaking, and the service was top-notch—warm, attentive, and accommodating, even with a baby in tow.
We started with the octopus and zucchini flowers, which were some of the best we’ve ever had—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For our main courses, we ordered three different pastas: the linguine all’astice (lobster pasta), scialatielli ai frutti di mare (seafood pasta), and linguine bolognese.
The bolognese was outstanding—fresh noodles, a perfectly balanced sauce, and the comforting, homemade taste you’d expect from nonna’s kitchen. Unfortunately, the two seafood pastas left much to be desired. The lobster pasta lacked depth of flavor and was full of broken shells, which made it difficult to enjoy despite the generous portion of fresh lobster. It had all the right ingredients to be fantastic but fell short in execution. The scialatielli ai frutti di mare was just okay—the seafood was fresh and the flavor was nice, but the noodles were all broken, which took away from the experience.
Overall, the service, atmosphere, and views were exceptional—Panorama truly lives up to its name. However, at 250 euros for three, we expected more than just a beautiful setting. With better execution on the pasta dishes, this could have been an unforgettable meal, but as it stands, we probably...
Read moreThe Rudest and Most Racist Restaurant Manager of All Time
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (0/5 stars if possible)
My wife and I recently had the most appalling dining experience of my life at Ristorante Panorama Capri. From the moment we walked in, we were subjected to the most disgraceful behavior from the restaurant manager.
Upon arrival, despite the restaurant being visibly empty with many unoccupied tables, we were told to wait because they were "fully booked with reservations." This seemed suspicious, but we decided to be patient and wait as instructed.
After waiting for over half an hour with no updates, we politely inquired about our table. Instead of receiving a courteous response, we were met with hostility. The manager not only told us that our table was still not ready but began swearing at us and making incredibly offensive racial comments. His behavior was shocking and completely unacceptable.
It is utterly disgraceful for any establishment to treat customers this way. The blatant racism and rudeness we encountered were beyond comprehension. No one should ever have to endure such treatment, especially in a place where you are supposed to feel welcome and enjoy a meal.
I strongly urge everyone to avoid this restaurant at all costs. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated, and I hope no one else has to experience the same mistreatment that we did. Save your time, money, and dignity by choosing to...
