We stayed in the Wine Hotel back in 2018. This review will compare our recent experience to the one we had back then. ||You cannot find better hosts than Raffaele and Elena. Both are friendly and accommodating. In essence, they become your second family. You don’t normally find this generosity and warmth in most hotels.||My wife did suffer an accident on the ferry when her luggage fell on her shin. They recommended the hospital and had their driver take us to the facility. We much appreciated their genuine concern. ||Having someone pick you up at the port is important. The Wine Hotel does this quite well. We were confused, though, where the pick-up point is. The pick-up area has changed since 2018 which is now across the port (pass the funicular) to an area known as “21.” You may see a large sign that actually says “21.” At this juncture, the Wine Hotel has placed a detailed map on their web page. ||We would describe The Wine Hotel as being boutique. There were only 10 rooms, now 14. Raffaele is 5th generation in owning this property with his dad, Pietro Coppola, who tends to the garden. The hotel came to be over 10 years ago. The vineyards and various vegetables are still visible on the property. A number of breakfast items actually come from their garden. ||Breakfasts are still superb. Elena actually makes some of the cakes and marmalade. In our 23 days in traveling through Italy, The Wine Hotel, by far, has the best croissants. I thought the omelets are top notch too. Coffee is brought to you by one of the dedicated and friendly staff members. My wife did miss the ‘pouched’ eggs, though, that were once offered. The past chef, Surrey, is now gone since 2023. ||Today, there is a dedicated chef serving lunch and dinner. My wife did enjoy the grilled chicken and I thoroughly enjoyed the hamburger. Over the course of 5 days, I had three of these tasty hamburgers. In the afternoon, you may encounter Raffaele’s cousin, Giuseppe, who takes care of servicing those meals. ||For most of the season, there is a spectacular seating area under a large tree that overlooks the Gulf of Naples. It is a place I miss the most about The Wine Hotel. There are also tables inside the main hotel for any inclement weather. ||Raffaele does not know how many wine bottles they have in the reception area. There are plenty. In your room, you have a number of wines to choose from for a nominal cost. ||We had a small room that was doable. There isn’t really any place to sit one’s toiletries in the bathroom though. I recommended back in 2018 to have larger waste can in the room. Today, we recommend hooks behind the bathroom door. ||What we liked most about our room is the small balcony that overlooks the port and the Gulf of Naples. Just enough room for 2 chairs and a table. In the morning, you can actually watch the sunrise. ||We found the AC to be adequate and the small refrigerator to be sufficient. What we did find were “ants” in the room. Raffaele told us to stop eating in the room which we did. ||A main difference between 2018 and today is the addition of a gorgeous infinity pool that over-looks the Gulf of Naples. For those cooler days, the pool is heated. Comfortable lounge chairs circle the pool. It is indeed a lovely area and now food can be served to you—lunch and dinner.||One has to note that The Wine Hotel is not in the center of town, but a doable 15-minute walk. One could also have a taxi called. A person just has to be real careful walking the narrow roads. At times, you may be hugging a wall when 2 vehicles past each other. It is a Capri experience with unique characteristics and ambiances. ||Due to my wife’s condition, we did not do very much this time except go in the city center and walk the Giardini di Augusto Botanical gardens—well worth the 2.50 Euros—as the views of the south coast are majestic. || We recommend the hike to see the Villa Jovis and viewing the Natural Arch. A boat ride around the island is always enjoyable—even with the crowds. ||We enjoyed going into the Blue Grotto in the early morning by taking the Anacapri Bus. Raffaele will give you all inside information. It is well worth doing-and don’t forget a tip for the boat master. ||Being in Anacapri you may well as do the chair-lift up to Monte Solaro. We also enjoyed viewing Villa San Michele. We never did get to hike to the lighthouse. ||Compared to some of Capri’s hotels, Wine Hotel is still a bargain. The advantage of staying on Capri is the availability of experiencing the island in its totality. We recommend at least 3 to 4 days. ||If you found this review to be helpful in any way, please check the “thumbs-up” to...

From the moment we arrived at the Capri Wine Hotel, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth, magic, and charm that’s simply impossible to put into words. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a deeply personal experience, a lovingly maintained piece of history nestled in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
💫 Exceptional Hospitality
Raffaele and his wife Elena, along with the gracious Kumar, and the rest of the team were nothing short of extraordinary. Their kindness and attention to detail made us feel not like guests, but like old friends welcomed into their home. Every interaction was sincere, every smile genuine. It’s rare to find hosts who blend warmth with such elegance—and they do it effortlessly.
🍋 A Garden of Eden
The grounds themselves are lush and vibrant, overflowing with lemon trees, fig trees, and a diverse array of fruits and vegetables. It’s like living inside a Mediterranean dream. Walking through their garden feels like stepping into a different world—serene, colorful, and deeply grounding. We were immediately reminded of Tuscany in the way the land touches your soul.
🍷 Culinary & Wine Delights
The food? Absolutely divine. Everything was fresh, natural, and often harvested directly from the gardens just a few steps away. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavor and love. And the wine! Their cellar is impressively stocked with a curated selection that reflects the depth of their heritage and passion for the craft. Every evening felt like a celebration of life.
🌊 Views & New Pool Paradise
The views are simply breathtaking. Whether you’re sipping wine at sunset or enjoying breakfast under the lemon trees, you’re always surrounded by the mesmerizing beauty of Capri. They’ve recently added a brand-new pool, and it’s the perfect place to unwind and take in the panoramic splendor of the sea and sky.
🍇 Living History
Perhaps most enchanting of all is the story behind the hotel. The property has been in the Coppola family for generations, originally a winery and now lovingly transformed into this intimate escape. That legacy is still very much alive—every stone, vine, and recipe carries the weight and wonder of family tradition, still preserved and run by the same lineage.

Final Thoughts: Staying at the Capri Wine Hotel is not just a vacation—it’s a soulful experience. The personal touches, the natural beauty, the heartfelt hospitality, and the rich family history create a place that’s hard to leave and impossible to forget. We left with full hearts, nourished spirits, and a longing to return as soon as we can.
