after 18 days eating in restaurants in Italy, this was one of the restaurants that disappointed me the most. I went with my girlfriend two weeks ago and ordered the truffle prawn dish (secondi). Unfortunately, I barely managed to taste it, as the dish was more like a small starter and the prawns barely had any meat. The potatoes were a joke as-well. It took more time to find the meat in the prawn than eating it. it was one of the more expensive dishes (more than 30 euros) and I thought it would be a great dish. The owner was still rushing us to choose the dish and then asked us if we liked it in the end. Is was so happy about my trip with my girl that I said it was ok. I didn't understand if it was meant as irony because we were young, but I thought the dish was disgraceful. I can eat much bigger and better shrimp at prices a thousand times better in other restaurants. luckily my girlfriend's risotto was actually very good, but it was still very small. We had to go to another place after because we were still hungry.

Finally, I do not recommend this place and it was one of the worst experiences in...

Rarely if ever leave poor reviews as I completely understand the many varied factors involved with a dining experience. The Cinquantaduecento Capri is a small, approximately 8 table restaurant on the main drive into Capri. I decided to patronize the establishment with my family based on the 4.7 star reviews I saw on Google. The first course and plate I ordered arrived fairly quickly and were decent. Roasted vegetables and a salad for my three family members, along with my main dinner plate of a hamburger. It then took another hour for the 3 main dishes for my wife and kids to arrive. I was finished with my hamburger at least 45 minutes before their two pasta plates and prawns were delivered to the table. The prawns were slightly mushy and not cooked correctly. The spaghetti dishes were very small portions and nothing spectacular for 22 dollars a piece. Three regular size bottles of water were $21.00. With no other drinks or food, the total bill was approximately $150.00. I was wholly unimpressed with Cinquantaduecento Capri and do not recommend it unless you want a pretty good...

Mama Mia, è stato fantastico! The feeling of this restaurant was amazing. I believe the owners were a friendly husband and wife waiting tables and playing their favorite music. They provided attentive service and excellent recommendations, steering our meal on an unforgettable journey. This restaurant is known for beef so you must get the steak carpaccio. It was some of the best I have ever had! Our table also shared three pastas which were cooked to perfection, unique, and left you wanting more. The waiter encouraged us to get their gelato - best in the whole world according to him! The surprise could have not been better. The dessert consisted of frozen fruit filled with their corresponding sorbets. Strawberries, peaches, bananas, limes, oranges and more. The flavors were intense, fresh, and tart. We had so much fun eating them! We had such a nice time chatting with our waiter and enjoying his recommendations. It ended up being some of the best food we had on Capri (and we stayed for 7 days!). This restaurant is a gem. It's what most tourists actually look for, but can rarely find - the genuinely small, authentic, independent restaurant with an owner-chef that is so passionate about his food and service, that other tourists don't know about! While the masses descend on the dining district around the top of the Funicalore hill tram in the area around the Eglise de Saint-Stéphane, this restaurant is just a 5-10 minute walk away westward down Via Roma, and my goodness what a difference that makes. (I went in the third week of May.) In addition to the tranquility, the food is superb. I didn't know ravioli (caprese) could taste so good. But as I have hinted, the fabulous food wasn't even the best thing about the place - it was the owner. This restaurant is of course his business, but it is quite clearly first and foremost his passion. He was so proud of the olive oil he uses, he even tried to dissuade my partner from using balsamic vinegar for her bread - "When the oil is this good, you don't need vinegar!" 10/10
