This hotel was such an awesome find and stay. The rooms were very clean and the staff were so friendly throughout my stay. I would say value for the money was great and in a good location. As everyone said, it is a bit of a trek up the hill to the hotel; however, the instructions I've outlined below will save you tons of time and save your legs! I wish someone had outlined this in the reviews clearly before I went:
To get to Hotel Villa Maggiore (assuming you are coming from the Riomaggiore Train Station!)
Exit the train station and head towards the sign that says "Riomaggiore Centro". You will see a tunnel...walk towards that tunnel and before you enter the tunnel, there is a lift on the left hand side that takes you up essentially 1 floor. Once you exit the lift, turn right and follow the road up and around the corner until you get to the church (˜5-7min walk). Once you arrive at the church, there is another lift that other reviews mention that take you up another floor. Read moreAfter much thought, we chose Hotel Villa Argentina and we were not disappointed. It is everything you read on their website and more. The friendly staff including Guilia, Lucca and Janelle welcomed us like family. Before booking we confirmed our room (#3) had a balcony overlooking the village and a beautiful panoramic view it is. The first couple days the breeze was cool enough but after that, the quiet, efficient A/C unit was a blessing on the warmer days. WiFi was adequate but occasionally fluctuated.||||The breakfast buffet is very good and features more than enough offerings to get the day started with boiled eggs, sliced meats and cheeses, quiche, pastries, breads, cereals, fresh cut and whole fruits. Cappuccinos and café au laits are awesome. Fruit juice was nice but missed having orange juice.||||Once you arrive, there’s no need to use the car so it is left in a private garage 5 minutes walk from the hotel for 25E/night. Another 5 minute walk to the public elevator drops you out about midway into the village saving a lot of steps down from and back up to the hotel. If you’re looking for a very nice hotel with balcony overlooking the village, I highly recommend Hotel...
