Visited this restaurant last week (late August) as part of our stay in Riomaggiore. The service was excellent up to the point that staff were preparing to close the kitchen (could hear all the conversations and complaints of staff about closing chores- I am not a fluent speaker but I understand basic Italian and body language!) when all the rushing of patrons begun. The head waiter left (finished for the day) and the ones remained were literally breathing over our shoulders waiting for us to leave (and neither did we go late nor we stayed there late as we were gone before 10pm where other restaurants stay open till later). The food was average but at a somewhat fair price- we had worse and more expensive experiences in the area. The panacota desert was delicious but the pizza was soaked in tomato waters and far bellow our expectations. I would recommend making a reservation or walking in early if you are in Riomaggiore. In general the area is really bad in value for money and the restaurants in general...
Read moreDisgusting. If you want he short version, here it is. Pretty much everything is store bought, the up side is their price is cheap compared to the restaurants in the city Centre, and about half the price compared to the two by the port.
I decided to get something cheap for dinner, so this is totally my fault. But we didn't expect something this dreadful. We go the tuna salad to share (picture), and they used canned tuna... And the presentation of the salad, looks like something a 10 years old made. My wife's spaghetti were store bought (dried pasta), so was the tomatoes pasted. My fish and chips' were definitely the frozen ones, and they were gross. The fish's batter was very thick, and looked nothing like the pictures. They look like something from a frozen dinner. The house/local wine was also a disaster. Bitter, sour and not smooth.
Bottom line, if you are traveling on a budget, this might work for you. Or maybe you can just go to Mama Mia down the street, it will...
Read moreOne of the more disappointing meals we had in Italy. Yes, it's a tourist trap, and the size of the menu should have been a give-away that they are not making most of their food in-house, but we tried it because our VRBO host recommended it for pizza. The gnocchi was weirdly sweet, and the meat sauce tasted canned. I got the 4 Seasons pizza, described as having olives, mushrooms, artichokes, and prosciutto. I imagined they would be sprinkled over the pizza. Instead, 1 quarter of the pizza had a pile of artichoke hearts on it, 1 quarter a pile of mushrooms, 1 quarter a pile of olives, and 1 quarter had a single piece of prosciutto. OK, my mistake for assuming how it would be presented - it would've been no big deal if the toppings had actually been good, but they were just canned! Canned artichoke hearts, whole canned black olives, and canned sliced mushrooms. Bleh. The sauce and crust weren't redeeming either. Don't go here expecting good...
