Stayed here for two nights in mid-September 2018 with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were attractive and pretty spacious, the shower was larger than most, and the breakfast in the breakfast room was lovely. There is also a beautiful outdoor patio where one can enjoy breakfast and coffee or tea, but we didn't have time to sit outside during our stay. The staff were very helpful and kind; they put together breakfasts for us the day before we left, since we had an early car service to the airport, and would have otherwise missed breakfast service. The only problem we had at this location (and we hope the management of the hotel realizes that this is a BIG problem that needs to be fixed!) is that the wi-fi was not at all reliable, and we did not have access to it for a large part of our stay. Wi-fi is key when you're on vacation (to research restaurants and sights, and also to do online check-in prior to your flight). Were it not for the wi-fi situation, we would have had absolutely no complaints with this hotel. We would definitely stay here again (but we might ask them about their wi-fi...
Read moreIt’s such a shame that I have to rate this guesthouse as poor because it is in an ideal location, the staff were friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was good and the rooms were comfortable (except bad shower)||HOWEVER...||One night my partner left me at the guesthouse to get something from the shop and locked me in the room for safety while I was getting ready to go out.||Around 10 minutes later the receptionist let himself into my room, and was very surprised to see me standing at the other side of the door. ||He apologised and said he needed to get something from under our bed for the reception area. He looked under the bed but left with nothing. ||I later confronted the receptionist about entering the room without warning as I could’ve been asleep/showering etc. He apologised but really didn’t know what he had done wrong. (E.g scare the living s**t out of me) ||I also asked for the details of the manager to which he gave me the guesthouse card with the telephone and emails address that he manages as the receptionist!! ||So so disappointing because other than that member of staff it is a really lovely place to stay. However, I will never recommend...
Read moreIt is a location close to historic sites (of which there is an overwhelming amount). The room we are in was recently updated. It works as a place to rest, snack on groceries, clean up. A minimart is right next door. Parking is about 400-500m away or 5-10 minute walk. You do hear neighbours coming in through the common entrance door to the suites, but nothing too serious. On the ground floor, so no lugging up suitcases up many flights of stairs.
A national art gallery is across the street - the works actually go into the history of art and how it was changing from 1200s to about 1800s. If you are new to art appreciation and take the time to read the interpretations, you get something out of it. However, I digress...
