In May, 2007, I was on a conference in Venice. Venice was never my choice, if it wasn't for a business trip. So I was almost forced to go there and it turned out to be my worst nightmare!||||First of all, my dear fellow travelers, NEVER EVER stay at Casatriano Bed & Breakfast in Venice. I would like to specifically warn tourists against this hotel. This hotel tempts tourists by showing nice photographs on its website. When we actually lived there, we found out that, it was in fact a damp dirty stinky sub-standard one-star hotel which charges like any 3+star hotel in USA or Europe. The room was so damp that everything dripped with water. It served a very poor quality breakfast. Water supply was scanty. Only one man handles reception, office, cleaning, taking out garbage, escorting guests, serving breakfast etc. etc. Rooms are like damp garages. There is a bed. But breakfast? God help you! These Italians need to learn come north and learn what a real breakfast means. ||||No breakfast before 09:00am! So our routine of starting work at 07:30 in the morning got totally messed up. ||||Secondly, one-star bed and breakfast places in Venice cost like 3+star in Scandinavia or USA.||||If you order a three-course meal, you will actually get a one-course meal (2cm-2cm dimension) at that price. They actually split the meal to make it look like three items.||||Everything is unbelievably expensive. Get too little at the cost of too much money. Every single food is with tomato and cheese. Ridiculous sandwiches (one thin slice of meat and one tiny piece of green, that’s it!). They have no idea what a real sandwich or a healthy salad means. In my country, sandwiches are 5 floors thick. Seven days with tomato, cheese and olive, tomato cheese and olive, tomato, cheese and olive (that costs like gold!), I felt like I’ll either kill somebody or kill myself. ||||Strong sun, sickening heat and humidity. People are rude, ill-mannered, racist, loud, uncivilized and stinky. Ugly buildings. Canals stinks like human [--] and rotten garbage. Streets are awfully dirty. And scanty water supply. ||||Even at the international airport, Italian staffs do not understand English properly. Nobody says “Hi!” Even if you say “Hi!”, they don’t respond back “Hi!”, they just glare at you. Really creepy. ||||Venice card is a shameful cheating and mostly confusing, because the included discounts do not exist in most restaurants. Use of free public toilet is included, but those are so disgustingly unclean that tourists tend to avoid it. Most toilets do not have toilet seats. One has to use it standing!! ||||I feel lucky that I don’t have to live in that hell-hole Venice...
Read moreIt was the first time I was going to Venice and was kinda excited because everybody had told me how wonderful could be this town.||||I receive the name of this B&B by a friend of mine already been there and I decided to book a room at Ca'Satriano. This have been the best choice, the right way to live Venice. When I arrived at the airport wasn't very easy to get there because the crazy funny narrow streets in Venice, but fortunately I had the number of the owner and I called her, obtaining helpful direction.||||As soon as I was there I met this curious nice guy working there, speaking very little English but available to help me with my baggages, and helping me to rest a little after the path under the sun. I went to my room, Conservatoire. It was great, clean, tidied up, and kinda relaxing. The bathroom was very nice, with a bathtub with water massage that made me rest. The room has that name because is close to a school of music and you can really appreciate hearing lyrical singers and musicians, while you are enjoying the light breeze entering from the windows.||||I was on holiday and it was delicious waking up every morning with the "espresso" s smell in the air, and a light Italian breakfast. The room has been clean everyday, and you can use all the things you need (water, food, etc) during the night, if you desire that.||||Venice is wonderful, in the Summer is a true "diamond". It is true that it's expensive and maybe what you eat is not a lot but, seriously, nobody would eat a big salad or "lasagne" and than walk under that hot sun. Instead you can try the best italian "gelato" ever, and refresh your mind. Venice is also expensive but not more than all the other European cities crowded of tourists! But all these kinda annoying stuff disappear as soon as you walk on Rialto bridge and see how human capacity has been able to create such a good view upon the sea.||||I am planning going back for the "Carnevale", something they told me you cannot lose in Venice! And Ca'Satriano will be there...
Read moreAfter a life long desire to visit Venice, my boyfriend booked a trip in February 09 during the venice carnival.|| I found Ca' Satriano online and called and spoke to Alberto to find out if there would be any availability during the carnival. As there are only 3 rooms I was delighted to find one available for the dates required and very reasonably priced. Alberto gave me much information before we arrived on which water ferries to take and how to find the B+B. After finding Ca' Satriano very easily we were welcomed in and shown our very nice room which was clean and spacious and certainly perfect for our 3 night stay as it was very close to St Marks Square. We were able to use the kitchen for drinks at any time and as there are only 3 rooms it was always very quite and relaxing. After a continental breakfast was served by very friendly and helpful staff we were set up to explore Venice. Alberto was so friendly and very helpful and spent time suggesting where to visit, when to visit and where to eat. As we arrived during carnival my expectations of Venice were exceeded and I could not recommend highly enough visiting during this time and definately staying at Ca' Satriano. I would definately stay here again and cannot recommended it highly enough. ||My boyfriend became my fiance on this trip as he proposed to me, which made this stay in Venice the most memorable romantic trip I could have...
