Cobo Hostel is the perfect fusion of traditional and modern living. Its rustic interiors show you a distinct Kyoto vibe while its modern features remind you how far the Japanese have come in terms of technology. The hosts were very kind and accommodating. It was a big, big plus that one of them could speak English. This helped us effectively communicate all of our queries and concerns which they were all able to properly address. Another lifesaver was the free pick-up and drop-off at Kyoto Station. This saved us time, money and effort of locating the hostel. Getting picked up was very convenient. They will send you a webpage link complete with all the pictures to guide you to the pick-up location. This was a clear indication that our hosts were very mindful of even the smallest details to make everything a breeze for their guests.||The hostel only has three rooms, which is great because you share most parts of the house from the shoe rack, to the bathroom, the toilet, and the beautiful kitchen. I think having only three rooms makes everything manageable. Moreover, if you're traveling in a big group, it would be perfect (if all rooms are vacant) because you can have the whole place to yourselves. We did not have any troubles sharing the place with other guests because there were more than one toilet and bath, there was enough space in the refrigerator, and they have a huge kitchen to work around. The hostel is located in a quiet and safe community. The hosts do not stay at the hostel round the clock but they will attend to you 24/7. Just send them a message. The hostel is secured by a combination code which is only given to those who stay at the hostel. The place is very accessible - a short walk to the main road, a train station, a couple of restaurants, a gas station, a convenience store, and the supermarket to name a few.||During our stay, we got the family room. It was very spacious and felt very homey. It fit all four of us comfortably. The hangers made up for the lack of closet space and was perfectly fine because we opted to just take what we need from our luggage. The staircase to the second floor was quite steep so it might not be the best option for those who are traveling with the elderly and very young children. It was not an issue for us since we were all grown-ups. It was also worth noting that my bed in Cobo Hostel was the comfiest bed I had the entire trip and that says a lot considering that I also stayed at hotels in Nagoya and Osaka during the trip. To the wonderful couple who hosted our stay, thank you so very much! I am looking forward to staying at your wonderful hostel when I get back to Kyoto. I highly recommend this hostel for those who are on a budget and would like to experience a convenient and comfortable...
