We had such a wonderful stay at Kyonomori for a total of 4 nights. The owner was incredibly kind and accommodating, and she spoke very good English which was such a help when we needed to communicate a late arrival and check in time. She was also very quick to respond to messages we sent through booking.com. Overall her attentiveness is what set the experience apart from others. The rooms are small but spacious enough, and I really enjoyed how small and quaint the property felt. At times it felt like we had the place to ourselves, and it was very quiet at night. It was a perfect little home base to come back to at the end of every day. The location met our needs very well - about a 10 minute walk to Nishiki Market or the Geisha District, 15-20 minutes to Kyoto Station, and right by the river for beautiful walks and runs. We opted to include the breakfast for our first morning, which was such a treat and a great way to start the trip after flying from the US the day before. It was a relief to not have to venture any further than the small dining room/bagel shop below, and the food was energizing and high quality! For the price, I don’t think you could find a better combination of comfort, location and service. We will be staying here again next time...

Staff/owners are so friendly, we truly felt welcomed.
Breakfast each morning was a treat, I've eaten and worked in high-end restaurants and can honestly say the effort and flavour that was put into each meal for just breakfast was incredible!
The rooms and decor was beautiful, rustic but still spotless not even a scruff mark on a wall.
If you get a chance to stay here you will be amazed at every detail! This is hospitality at its Best! A+++
Location was also great, 15 minute walk to city and 15 minute walk to...
Read moreThis guest house was fabulous. It’s walking distance to the tourist areas, but a few blocks away on a small, quiet street. There are lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood, if you want to avoid the busy main dining streets. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, with air conditioning. Our favorite part of the stay were the included multi-course breakfasts, which were delicious and a mixture of western and Japanese style foods. The owner also makes bagels stuffed with various ingredients - to be honest these were the best bagels I’ve had outside of New York (correct level of...
