We couldn't ask for much more for our stay in Kyoto. The location of the hotel is about 10min from the main station (15min with luggage) in a quiet residential area. It feels much more authentic and peaceful compared to the insanity of the tourist districts. There are a few coffee shops and restaurants within a few blocks walking distance. Multiple bus lines also pass close-by the hotel, so no need to walk to the station for those.
The hotel itself isn't big, but the size of our room was much larger than the average Japanese standard. We had just come from Osaka, where our suitcases didn't even fit in the room lol. They do not offer housekeeping every day, but they do provide plenty of towels in the room. If you need your bin bag renewed, just place it in the hallway. A cart downstairs has amenities such as razors, earplugs, a hairbrush, etc. The rooms have a mini fridge and the lobby has a microwave as well as vending machine.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Both at our early arrival and at checkout were they able to hold our suitcases for a few hours.
Only inconvenience for me, as a light sleeper, was that there was a large light outside of our window. Even with the blinds properly shut, you could still notice the light. So I had trouble falling asleep. Also, we got a few stray long black hairs in the towels. Not exactly what you want to find when unfolding a towel, but it happens.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to people who want to have a more authentic stay in a quiet corner of Kyoto, close to all forms of public transportation.
PS: Visit the temple nearby. It has gorgeous gold leaf panels inside, as well as a breathtakingly...
Read moreVery clean and modernly-designed rooms. There was enough space to open two luggages at the same time. Nespresso machine was a nice bonus, but unfortunately only two pods are provided until your scheduled housekeeping day (it’s not everyday). We stayed in a room that was furthest from the end of the reception and realised that our wifi signal was absolutely awful. It was sitting at two bars but we were unable to load any YouTube videos or scroll on TikTok or anything - might have been a patchy area? Also, our window was against a wall so not a great view of outside.
Rinn Kamiebisu is located in a really quiet residential street and only 15min walk away from Kyoto JR Station. There isn’t a konbini that is conveniently across the road, the closest one probably is the Lawson which is an...
Read moreMixed feelings about this place. Rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly, but the location could be better. It’s a 15 minute walk from the station and all breakfast places are at least 10 minutes away. The weird thing about this place is that they only clean your room every two days. If you want this everyday they charge 3000 yen per day, which I think is outrageous. New towels and making the bed are basic hotel services. When we came back to the hotel after a supposedly cleaning day, only clean towels were provided, the rest was as we left it: a mess. When I complained they cleaned it well the next day. I’d recommend a place in Kyoto closer...
