I really want to give this hostel 5 stars but unfortunately the volunteer staff crossed the line. I like all of the hostel feature, I can get privacy with cheap price, the toilet is clean, the showers is clean, especially the first floor. The bed is clean, the room don't have any strange smell. The noise from the room next to you will be so loud. The host, manager and the staff are all kind helpfull, some of the volunter staff are kind too. But this one is rude and don't care about personal space, really ill-mannered. She keep turning my light off while I'm still inside my room. I don't feel safe there at all, I request to move my room to the staff. They give me the 3rd floor room. And 3rd floor is quieter than 2nd floor. Even worse because she's the staff (volunteer), that get to live there for free in exchange of cleaning the hostel. After moving my room, my food in the fridge suddenly gone, even my plastic container gone, it's on thursday they suddenly cleaning the fridge, even thought the cleaning schedule is saturday. It's bullying and harassing. The manager offer me to use 4th fridge. While I still didn't feel safe at all because she's the staff. I don't even feel safe to show my name and room on the locker door.
She told me to turn off my light when I'm outside only after she turn off my light without permission. Like a thief. It's even creepier if she peeking from outside of my room to check if I'm inside or not. My 1st room is 201 C, so beware of a creep and a bully live in front of the room.
I hope she won't live there anymore. Unfit to be a staff. I don't know if they give the host false story about me or not, or give her a warning or not. But she's still there.
But great...
Read moreI stayed here 10 nights in winter. This is part of the Nomad Hotel Classic empire; this is the second building. The main building is around the corner, and the third building is a little further. I booked via Airbnb in advance. I feel the Airbnb listing was a bit inaccurate, but the staff at the hostel were kind and helpful. I didn’t mind the bathrooms being on the first floor, but the semi- private room wasn’t my favorite due to the poor lighting and ventilations. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel if you’re sensitive to bad smells, as there isn’t any ventilation. In addition, there aren’t any stair railing for the 3rd floor units, so I wouldn’t recommend for clumsy people. I didn’t use the laundry on the roof, but the view was nice. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals, and there was communal soy sauce. Convenience store, Asakusa station, Skytree, and market are close by. I most enjoyed the Sumida river walk and Orange street near Sensoji temple.
As a note, I think some of the people staying here exchange work for stay, meaning the facilities are cleaned by the guests. Some of them do a better job than others. The shower floor was sticky and I was glad to have...
