This an old and confusing station to navigate, there are actually 3 different railways operated here (Tokyo Metro, Toei subway & Tobu) even though it's the same red line! i learned this the hard way 😭 this station seems build from showa period and never upgrade. No escalator in platform, no underground connection between each lines, the stairs are insane ☠️ Difficult to find elevator because of confusing signage, the direction was poorly describe.
Elevator: Tokyo Metro Exit 1 Toei Subway Exit A2b
Think you have a death row to commute this station with suitcase, another burden with IC card! android user outside Japan could not use the app. If they really want to use contacless should just make it open payment like London tube. No centralisation between these operating companies made tokyo transportation inefficient. If you cannot use IC card just buy the normal ticket but if you buy at the wrong gate the ticket won't work, we did wrong buy the ticket at Metro and could not be used at Toei line because it's different companies! luckily the staff help us to refund. Taking train in Japan is fun but they never made it easy, it's always modern but antique at the same time. Like how my only problem in Japan that my pocket always full with coins and...
Read moreI have used this station on various trips over the years, today l have time to hang around and take everything in. The station has many facilities, access to many of the lines throughout Tokyo.
It's an amazing large and impressive building, l have no idea if people actually look up as people are often running for trains.
It also houses an information point, staff are extremley helpful. Also there is a large store above it with many shops and cafe, worth a wonder around. There are toilet and disabled ♿ facilities.
Upstairs you can find easy to use lockers. I have found staff at thus station very helpful. It's nice that it is a place you can take your time in. Walking distance to shrines and river, where you can get a river boat. There are ATM 🏧 of...
Read moreIf you're coming from Narita: Turn right immediately after exiting the train, walk straight until you find the elevator on the left side. Then after the ticket gates, keep left and follow the signs for a2b for the elevator. It really isn't that hard.
Going back, take the a2b elevator again, then a different elevator to the platform bound for Narita. Not the same one as before since that's bound for Haneda. I don't remember much but it was a slightly longer walk. There are directions everywhere, but the lift itself is easy to miss since it's in the corner. It'll be on your left side, if I remember correctly.
I've seen a lot of people carrying their luggage up the stairs. Not sure if the Ginza line has an elevator, but the Asakusa line does. That's...
